I run my own business, with 78 direct employees and over 150 casual workers. Every week, I travel to two different regions to monitor production and make sure everything is running smoothly.

If I don’t drink, smoke, or go clubbing, and I decide to buy myself a game for relaxation, does that make me a joke? What exactly is he trying to say?

Is he expecting me to come to his church so I can be manipulated into giving him money? There are games specifically designed for adults and the elderly, and some are even played for entertainment or gambling. So what exactly is he talking about?

The level of ignorance some people display while thinking they are making sense is unbelievable. His friends and age mates are out there working hard and building their lives. Instead of criticizing people for how they choose to relax, perhaps the pastor should also focus on getting serious work and stop depending on church members to feed him.

I know a well known and very successful high net worth semi-retired surgeon in his 60s who plays computer games with his children and grandchildren and sometimes withfriends/ peers in other professions. Massa it is now a well documented fact that games such as CROSSWORD PUZZLES, JIGSAW PUZZLES and especially COMPUTER GAMES which tax and challenge the human brain actually improve or at least maintain COGNITIVE FUNCTION as a person gets older. These games exercise and challenge the brain and significantly slow down or even prevent the early onset of some forms of dementia.
For sure anybody who becomes addicted to ANYTHING, including computer games so that it results in them neglecting their responsibilities ( relationships, work or career prospects or their relationship with their creator) is being exceedingly foolish and will sooner or later pay a heavy price. PEOPLE CAN BECOME ADDICTED TO ANYTHING, INCLUDING WORK AND OTHER NORMALLY LEGITIMATE ACTIVITIES.
If work or any activities ( sports,watching tv, surfing the internet, even attending or participating in e.g. Church activities) keeps you from fulfilling your OBLIGATIONS in life then you have failed as an individual and you need to urgently correct your unwise and unbalanced lifestyle before it becomes too late.
WORK, RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES, HOBBIES, GAMES MUST NEVER REPLACE OR BECOME A PRIORITY OVER THE MOST IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS IN LIFE- YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR SPOUSE,CHILDREN AND YOUR GOD.
Religious activities can easily become a pretext for avoiding to fulfil vital relationship commitments. If your PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD is on the right track you'll find that you are pleasing Him greatly by also attending to your calling as a husband,wife,father, mother or child.
So you see,computer games (THE NON- VIOLENT AND NON-SEXUAL VARIETY) when used correctly ( not addictively or obsessively) can sharpen the brain of ALL AGE GROUPS but are also of proven benefit to people who are aging and are at risk of cognitive decline.
