Great idea, but has the minister considered the bad road network in the inner-cities? If the urban roads dept (if it actually exist and functioning) could pave the inner-roads, the use of heavy trucks to collect household and commercial waste would be smooth and helpful. The idea is good, but F@^k$%g fix the untarred, dusty, pothole/manhole filled inner-city roads. Great.... 'Aboboya' or Ababaya or Atitiya....whatever you call it is an eyesore like the Trotro.

Remove Aboboyaas and pragya tricycle taxis from our roads. Meanwhile west African beggars and other criminal elements have invaded and inundated neighborhoods and the streets of Accra and other cities. In their wake, have been left spreading and spanning and sprawling and spawning zongos and ghettos. Okada riders have taken over every junction and intersection. Streets lights are either malfunctioning or non existent. Traffic lights and not working. There are mo reflectors, no lines, no crosswalk markings etc on our roads posing a great danger to road users especially at night. Filth has engulfed the entire city. Dangerous levels of noise from Mosley muezzins call to prayer and churches continuously disturb our sleep. What is the interior minister, local government minister, various regional ministers, MMDCEs and other relevant authorities doing about these dangers? If this canker is not nipped in the bud, the resultant social menace in the near future will be catastrophic.

The population needs to be educated, and will need great patients,plenty of money,and show commitment from Every one....YES EVERYONE.
BUT from what I am told and know,there are municipals in Ghana,which are badly run,and these places need the broom run the offices to get rid of dud people,as there is plenty of them.
The Government can't foot the bill entirely,so the rate payers on properties,will need a waste disposal fee,added to their rate notices,to help with the cost.
This exercise has been in place for more than 30 years around the world,that I know of and works well.
