Ghanaians get visa-free access to Maldives, Zambia and Antigua and Barbuda

Ghanaian passport holders can now travel to the Maldives, Zambia and Antigua and Barbuda without applying for an entry visa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this in a press statement on September 8, 2026, following the approval and implementation of visa waiver agreements between Ghana and the three countries.

The Ministry said the arrangement covers ordinary, service and diplomatic passport holders.

Under the new arrangement, Ghanaians can stay in the Maldives for up to 30 days without a visa.

The same 30-day limit applies to Zambia, while travellers to Antigua and Barbuda can stay for up to 90 days.

The Ministry said the move is aimed at making travel easier for Ghanaians and strengthening Ghana’s relations with the three countries.

However, the Ministry stressed that visa-free travel does not mean Ghanaians can enter the countries without meeting other requirements.

“Eligible Ghanaian passport holders may travel to these countries without obtaining an entry visa, subject to the terms and conditions of the respective agreements,” the Ministry stated.

It advised travellers to carry a valid passport and other documents that may be required by immigration authorities.

Those travelling to work, study or live in any of the countries will still need to obtain the necessary permits.

The Ministry also urged travellers to check the latest entry and health requirements before travelling, as these rules may change.
