I once heard land sellers arguing selling land which did n out belong to you is better than arme do robbery. And some times i believe they are right.

The land beyond central what are the assemblies doing and why is the government not warning pple even my adverts You wait for them to bully they can’t register it and as some one said the lands commission workers will collude and boldly tell u the government is working to give the land back to the chiefs and the funny this is there are about three different families all selling.

They give the land to some big men and make you believe it is all safe and even to some churches. Then they sell to the public make some money and ran off then they employ our northern brothers to do the dirty jobs.

Its not only private land owners who are guilty of that approach to land selling, but as well as the state.
formally, Nsawam, Afeinya and others use to feed Accra, but the matter is not so today.
Residents of Korlegono and others were getting little tilapia from the Korle Lagoon, but that is not the case today.

WHAT KIND OF DEVELOPMENT AGENDA IS GHANA PURSUING IN TERMS OF LAND USE?

It is very disheartening the way land is being used in Ghana. All manner of lands are now be converted for real estate use. Agricultural lands and lands for other purposes are being rapidly converted into residential areas without any consideration of what our future food security and other needs would be like.

I have been wondering whether the Ghana government is powerless so far as seeing to the proper use of land is concerned. While I am not against developing residential accommodation in Ghana, I am not enthused at the rate at which land use in Ghana not being economical.

In preserving land for agricultural use and even for future residential use, we should focus in building high rise buildings instead of the present massive horizontal constructions all over the place.

It is frightening, the present misuse of land and a day is coming when there would be no farming lands to farm on in Ghana. It would be the saddest era for anyone to find his or herself in, when Ghana would a net importer of food to feed on.

Even if it is late, it is never too late for the proper mechanisms to be put in place to ensure that we do not face land crisis in the foreseeable future.
