Japan remains to this day one of the most insular nations on earth.
[ Insular : interested only in your own country or group and not willing to accept different or foreign ideas] IN JAPAN if you are a foreigner ( no matter your skin colour, you'll always be an outsider but being dark-sminned makes it worse). Japan is a rapidly aging population that is already struggling to support its very costly welfare system and the last thing on their mind is to encourage Western style benefits system in their country that has seen its economy slowly decline because of a steady fall in the size of their working age population. Most "advanced" countries that have themselves in a similar situation with an increasing proportion of retirees have sought to mitigate ( reduce the negative impact) by inviting varying levels of skilled foreign workers to come and live and work in their countries. In contrast the Japanese are generally not very accepting of foreigners or foreign cultures which explains their great reluctance to accept and integrate even young skilled foreign workers vital to revive and sustain their declining economy.
FOR SURE THIS YOUNG GHANAIAN MAN DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE SOCIETY HE FOUND HIMSELF IN OR HE WAS BADLY ADVISED TO PERSUE HIS COURSE OF ACTION WHICH WAS DOOMED TO FAIL. FURTHERMORE NATIONALISM HAS BEEN ON THE RISE IN JAPAN OVER THE LAST TWO DECADES BUT THIS HAS ACCELERATED UNDER THE CURRENT JAPANESE GOVERNMENT OF PRIME MINISTER SANAE TAKAICHI. SHE IS AN AVID "JAPAN- FIRST" POLITICIAN.
So any Ghanaian dreaming of living and working in Japan needs to be aware of the prevailing conditions there. Also as far as I can recall ( please check the accuracy of this) if you are not a Japanese citizen you cannot draw your Japanese pension on retirement if you decide to move abroad.
