From Partey to Thomas-Asante: World Cup players missing from Ghana’s latest AFCON squad

Seven players who featured in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup campaign have been left out of Carlos Queiroz’s latest Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2027 AFCON qualifiers and friendly against Morocco.

Jonas Adjetey, who started Ghana’s opening World Cup game against Panama, is among the notable omissions. He also featured against England before being left out of the latest selection.

Brandon Thomas-Asante, who came off the bench in Ghana’s World Cup opener and also featured against England, has also failed to make the 24-man squad.

Elisha Owusu, Alidu Seidu and Abdul Mumin are other members of the World Cup squad who have been left out.

Carlos Queiroz names 24-man Black Stars squad as Kudus returns

All three featured during Ghana’s campaign, with Owusu starting against Panama and Seidu and Mumin featuring as substitutes in the tournament.

Mohammed Salisu remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury which ruled him out of the World Cup.

He had already been confirmed as one of Ghana’s injury absentees before the tournament.

Marvin Senaya is another notable omission. The Auxerre defender started both Ghana’s games against Panama and England but has not been included this time.
