‘Unless you burn us, we’ll continue to repair Chang fans’ - Galamseyer ‘dares’ NAIMOS

A man believed to be a galamsey operator has been captured on camera claiming that destroying Changfan machines will not stop them from illegal mining activities, stating that they will continue to repair damaged equipment.

In a video posted by ASK GHANA on his X page on Friday, September 18, 2026, the operator said military personnel deployed to fight illegal mining should stop boasting about burning Changfan machines because the miners would simply fix them and return to work.

“The soldiers should stop saying they have burnt Changfan machines because no matter how many times they burn them, we will still repair them,” he said.

According to him, repairing the machines takes only about one to two hours.

He further suggested that destroying the equipment alone would not end their operations, adding that the only way the military could stop them would be to take stronger action against the operators themselves.

“The only way they can stop us is by burning us as well,” he stated.

The comments come amid ongoing efforts by Ghanaian authorities to clamp down on illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, with security personnel targeting mining equipment used at illegal sites.

Previous videos have also surfaced showing illegal miners replacing Changfan machines destroyed during military operations and returning to mining activities.
