They will not advice their followers who are misbehaving to stop but rather demonstrate to encourage them to do more when arrested. If it is good, why wouldn't Okoe Boye and Prince Adade themselves engage themselves in what the nurse and Ghana jollof are engaged in just to disturb public peace or create fear and Panic? The police had the arrested nurse's phone and are privy to some informations which Okoe Boye and Adade are not. If the police stop arresting them, they will disturb our peace with false informations and divert Mahama's focus or attention from delivering the good job he is currently doing. I will be disappointed if the police, NSB and EOCO relents in the good job they are doing to maintain peace and discipline in the country.

So if the person is not released and you go to sleep at the police station, you think that will effect any change? The NPP should find a better way to oppose the government on legitimate issues. It looks like all party members are party communicators., and so anyone can get and say whatever they please. I hope Oko Boye has mosquito net to deal with the uninvited mosquito guests outside the police station, because he's going to sleep outside the building.

The recent case involving Barbara Asantewaa Kodua (popularly known as “Ghana Jollof”), a Techiman-based nurse and TikToker, has intensified the national conversation over the limits of political expression and the application of Ghana’s laws regarding false news.

Ghana’s reputation as a stable democracy with a vibrant media environment is facing renewed scrutiny following a reported surge in arrests connected to alleged false news and offensive speech. According to the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), 14 people were arrested in Ghana during the first 16 months of the current administration in cases linked to these laws. The MFWA noted that this contrasts sharply with the eight documented arrests during the entire eight-year tenure of the previous administration.This trend has ignited a fierce debate among journalists, civil society organizations, politicians, and the general public over where Ghana should draw the line between combating harmful misinformation and protecting free speech. The critical question remains: when does the enforcement of laws against false information and provocative online content serve legitimate national security, and when does it begin to violate political expression and due process?

Many are asking whether the Ghanaian government is weaponizing these laws to witch-hunt citizens who speak out against societal ills that do not favor the administration, while simultaneously ignoring similar comments made by its own side. Over the years, numerous controversial or inflammatory remarks have been made by government officials and their supporters, yet no one was arrested or prosecuted. Why, then, is there a sudden, rampant rush to arrest private individuals who are simply expressing their political opinions? The laws of our beloved country must be applied equally and respected by all.

The arrest of Salomey Baffoe, which has effectively curtailed her fundamental human right to be heard, is deeply concerning. Ghana should be well past the era of arresting citizens for merely expressing their views. Disagreeing with someone’s opinion does not justify subjecting them to the kind of state-sponsored intimidation and hardship we are witnessing today.

As Ghanaians, we must rise up and call this what it is: persecution, not justice. Freedom of expression is the lifeblood of a multiparty democracy because citizens must retain the right to question those at the helm of affairs. Salomey Baffoe must be released immediately.

And If they think that those silly actions are going to earn them any political points they should wait until 2028. Ghanaians are now understanding the difference between ruling a nation and building a nation, and they'll definetely choose the latter.
