Ghana Jollof Case: ‘Release Salomey by weekend or we’ll sleep at police station’ – Okoe Boye

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, has threatened to lead party supporters to stage a sit-in at the police station where Salomey Awity Baffoe is being held if she is not granted bail by this weekend.

Baffoe, a senior nursing officer, has been remanded in police custody over her alleged involvement in the activities of TikToker Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof.”

She has been charged with abetment of crime, specifically the alleged publication and circulation of false news.

She has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Speaking about the case on Asempa FM and shared on X on September 18, 2026, Dr Okoe Boye said he would mobilise NPP supporters to stay at the police station until Baffoe is released.

“In all humility, if by the weekend they don’t release Salomey Awity Baffoe to her family so she can take care of her son, wherever she is being held, we will amass ourselves to go and sleep there,” he said.

He said the group would formally inform the police before carrying out the planned action.

“We will write to the police that we will be sleeping there until she is released,” he added.

Dr Okoe Boye said the protest would continue until the matter attracted public attention.

“We will sleep there until the whole world comes to cover, and when they ask, we will tell them that in Ghana, someone who receives money from a TikToker has been jailed for months,” he insisted.

He also questioned the continued detention of Baffoe, arguing that her right to be heard had not been respected.

“As we speak, the two fundamental pillars of natural justice have not been observed in her case. First is the right to be heard. As we speak, this woman is being held under the excuse of investigations,” he stressed.

The Ghana Police Service has said its investigations indicate that Baffoe assisted Barbara Asantewaa Kodua (Ghana Jollof) in distributing videos through various social media platforms.

According to the police, Baffoe allegedly recruited other people to redistribute and circulate the videos. Police also said forensic examination of mobile devices and financial records showed money transfers involving Baffoe.

The police have declared Kodua wanted and say she is believed to be in the United Kingdom. She is accused of publishing false and inciteful content, including a claim about an alleged near coup at the Jubilee House.

Baffoe was arrested on September 17, 2026, and subsequently put before the Adentan Circuit Court, which remanded her for two weeks. She is expected to reappear on September 30, 2026.
