When two Elephants are fighting, a Dog does not make the mistake of standing in the middle to support one faction. Nkrumah's attempts to introduce Socialism to Ghana and encourage African countries like Guinea, Kenya, among others to do same spelt his doom and the bankruptcy of Ghana. When he was overthrown, Ghana was on the brinks of bankruptcy. No Western Country was prepared to give loans to Ghana for any developmental projects.
Nkrumah had become arbitrary and gaoled his Political Opponents into his Nsawam Murdering and Concentration Camp. Yes, it became his butchery where those who were his his beneficiaries were imprisoned to death. Even K.B Danquah who was tortured there was going blind but was not released. He was made to go blind and was buried at the Prison Cemetery. How did he expect Ghanaians to like him. I remember the massive jubilation that engulfed Ghana when his overthrow came out. Similarly, many Ghanaians were happy when Efo Julor John Rawlings died from the COVID virus. There is the Akan saying that YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW.
