George Ekum Ferguson, a very brilliant Ghanaian surveyor from Central Region. On his working assignment, putting up the northern boundaries with the northern neighbours met cold blooded death in the hands of Samouri Toure troops. Very sad was that. Yet not a single day has his name mentioned.
Only Dr.J.B. Danqua proposed the name Fergusonia for the Northern Territory. Unfortunate Dr.Nkrumah adopted the name Ghana then rejected Fergusonia instead called the proposed Northern Region.
Another prominent figure Dr. Aggrey. Only a brief moment was his name appeared on a currency note that had been all about him in the country. And Philip Quaque has never been mentioned at ll. Sad.
Here women are their own enemies. There is not need to empower them. Boldly they are inward looking. The first female civil servant in the country then Gold Coast was Ferguson’s sister yet not a single day had her name mentioned even within the women folk. Now a lady Vice President. Calculate the struggle and effort she put in to be accredited in male dominated zone by then. The nation had refused to honour her on her efforts. Now women Professors, Doctors; Teachers; Pilots; Navy; etc. everywhere. Yet not a single day had Miss Ferguson’s name mentioned. The Akans say they a “ POTWAAFO”
Let us respect where we are coming from. And all those involved not a single entity. For some even died. And would never come again.Once gone; Gone for good for the betterment of Ghana. MM!.
