What I don't understand is how all these scammers are able to transfer most of the proceeds to banks in Ghana without oversight review by the BOG. In some jurisdictions, if certain thresholds or transfers triggers queries that necessitate investigations to ascertain the origin. Some of these are even performed without your knowledge at the background. Others demand you to provide information regarding the source. More reforms are needed or must be enforced if already available to discourage them. Some of these proceeds are whitewashed through purchases of real estate property, hence the skyrocketing prices of lands and houses in Accra to mask them. Others are used to purchase machinery and goods from Asia.

In some jurisdictions, at certain thresholds, or the nature of transfers triggers queries that necessitate investigations to ascertain the origin. Some time ago a Liberian embassy staff member who was driving drunk got into car accident killing someone in Accra. In the end the police said he was a diplomat so he was not charged.
