I have a question. Why is it that being called to EOCO or whatever body is automatically seen as a life changing event? Is it because of how they've clouded themselves with extra ordinary powers which surpases the dictates of the laws of this country? It is high time the Supreme Court steps in to make it very very easy to hold the officials personally liable and in contempt if they are found to have abused the fundamental human rights during the discharge of their duties. immunity, no excuses. You arrest someone and they kept beyond 48hrs without taking them to court, you are personally liable.This must include the weekends, we need judges to attend to such emergencies. You abuse an arrested physically, you fail to follow due process in their arrest, you are held liable. You place them in an unhygienic condition, deny them access to counsel etc. you are liable.Every suspect is presumed innocent until proven by a court of competent jurisdiction so under no circumstances should such person face these nasty abuses or harbor fears. When this is addressed, no one will be worried to appear before them.

In any case, their arguments make no sense. This raises a critical question: why is being summoned by EOCO, or any similar body, automatically viewed as a life-altering crisis? Is it because they have wrapped themselves in an aura of extraordinary powers that supposedly surpass our national laws? It is high time the Supreme Court intervened to make it straightforward to hold officials personally liable and in contempt if they abuse fundamental human rights in the line of duty. There should be no immunity and no excuses. If an official detains someone beyond 48 hours without presenting them to a court—including weekends, which requires emergency judges—they must be held personally liable. The same liability must apply to physical abuse, failing to follow due process during an arrest, denying access to counsel, or holding suspects in unhygienic conditions. Every suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. Under no circumstances should anyone face these degrading abuses or live in fear of them. Once accountability is established, no one will dread appearing before these institutions.
