Good news that Cocobod has raised the producer price for farmers. But let's come clear: where is the money to pay them actually coming from? The syndicated loan has reportedly collapsed, and the GH¢16.3 billion is meant to come from domestic bonds and commercial paper — which hadn't been issued yet — while buyers are still owed about GH¢4 billion from last season. So is the cash secured locally, or are we counting on forward sales to offload to buyers upfront?

And on domestic production: with processing capacity sitting idle and the 50% local processing mandate still on paper, when does Ghana realistically start producing its own cocoa products at scale instead of exporting raw beans? Let's come clear on the funding and the timelines.
