As a man I hate to hear that some men still assault and beat their wives. No matter how a woman you have once loved and who has submitted her body to you before, provokes you, you have no right to lay your hands on her. I find these news ways of resolving marital issues on the airwaves very informative and educative. And it is good because not all the women want to go to DOVVSU which is a police establishment to resolve such issues. The listening audience is very large and it is useful for its educational content. But men please stop assaulting your wives when least provoked. Only cowards do that!!!!!

Women will not take the initiative to slap a man first because of nothing. It means such a man has lost the respect of the woman and is staying in the house under the woman's control. I bet you such a man may not be giving chop money, may not be paying school fees, may not be paying even rent but the wife may be magnanimous enough to let him continue perching in the house because he may be unemployed for a reason. Such a man deserves all the slaps in this world if after such crass irresponsibility he wants to still exert influence in the house. I rest my case!!!!

Then why are some family/domestic issues handled by queen mothers and chiefs, etc? I am not a great fan of such programmes Oyerepa Afutuo because I don't like to hear or talk about other people's private matters. They don't concern me; I prefer to mind my own business.

However, such programmes also have their place in society. And they are helping to solve a lot of domestic/family issues. Perhaps they need to be guided and regulated to improve and know the lines they cannot cross. But we should not behave as we are the only ones who have had some formal education and that anything that is outside the formal institutions of the state should rubbished and destroyed. If you understand the social psychology of Ghanaians generally, then you will appreciate the role of such programmes in society. In any case, the Social Welfare Department, like most state institutions in Ghana, is understaffed and poorly resourced.
