The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has strongly rejected allegations levelled against him by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and subsequently amplified by the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo.

The Manhyia South MP, who is also a lawyer, insists that the allegations are an attempt to discredit him and intimidate him from defending Salomey Awiti Baffoe, the 40-year-old nurse detained in connection with the Ghana Jollof case.

His comments come amid an escalating public dispute between the two MPs following an attempted arrest of Baffour Awuah by EOCO officials.

EOCO has maintained that its officers attempted to arrest the Manhyia South MP as part of an ongoing investigation after he allegedly failed to honour invitations extended to him in February 2026.

In a video interview shared on his social media, accompanied by a caption, the Manhyia South MP said the allegations would not deter him from representing Salomey.

“When their gross incompetence is exposed then they try to find a way to silence you. I am not a weak person that this government thinks they can intimidate me, you can orchestrate all the lies you want against me but that won't stop me from defending Salomey,” he wrote.

The Manhyia South MP also took aim at EOCO Executive Director Raymond Archer, accusing him of providing misleading information to the public in an attempt to justify the action against him.

He also questioned the credibility of Bernard Bediako Baidoo, who has repeatedly made allegations about his conduct.

“Because it didn’t end well, Raymond is now spewing lies to the public. He wants to find every means to justify the action. You have heard most of the lies. The Akwatia MP is the one leading the charge, spewing lies. For him, a respected pastor has come out to say that he, the Akwatia MP, has defrauded him. Which credibility do you even have to talk about my matter? There’s no truth in that,” he said.

Baffour Awuah further alleged that the investigation into his past professional activities was intensified after EOCO officials realised that he was representing Salomey Awiti Baffoe.

“It is Raymond Archer’s modus operandi. When they saw I was defending the lady, Salomey Awiti, they then scan through the security system to see who can get something on me. This is typical of this government, so what it uses against NPP MPs,” he said.

The comments by Baffour Awuah come after the Akwatia MP, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, doubled down on allegations he has made against his colleague, despite a lawsuit filed against him by the Manhyia South legislator.

Baffour Awuah filed a Writ of Summons on September 28, 2026, against Bernard Bediako Baidoo and broadcaster Blakk Rasta, over statements he considers false and defamatory.

However, speaking in an interview on Accra FM on Monday, September 28, 2026, Bernard Bediako Baidoo repeated his claim that the attempted arrest of Baffour Awuah had nothing to do with his representation of Salomey Awiti Baffoe in the Ghana Jollof case.

According to Bediako Baidoo, the Manhyia South MP is being investigated over alleged wrongdoing dating back to his time as a lawyer for SIC Life Insurance Limited, before he entered Parliament.

He went on to outline what he described as evidence gathered by EOCO concerning a case involving SIC Life and Equity Micro-Finance.

Bediako Baidoo claimed that SIC Life had provided Baffour Awuah with GH¢280,000 to pursue a case against Equity Micro-Finance over an outstanding loan of about GH¢6 million.

According to him, the court subsequently ruled in favour of SIC Life and authorised the sale of property belonging to the microfinance company, which he claimed was worth about GH¢25 million.

He said the process of selling the property was already underway, with a court-appointed auctioneer having identified a potential buyer, when another company, Eco Swiss, emerged and claimed ownership of the land.

The Akwatia MP alleged that before the court could determine the true ownership of the property, Baffour Awuah, acting on behalf of SIC Life, entered into a settlement with Eco Swiss without the approval of the board of the state-owned company.

“When he was going to court, SIC gave him GH$280,000. The court awarded a judgment in favour of SIC for the sale of the microfinance company's property, which was worth GH$25 million. The auctioneer the court appointed to sell the property had even gotten a buyer, and the deal was almost done.

“All of a sudden, another company called Eco Swiss came into the frame claiming that Equity Micro Finance had sold the said property (a land) to them long ago... The matter went to court, and before the court could even determine the true owner of the land, Baffour Awuah went to settle the matter of the state entity. As we speak, this is no board decision which permitted him to do that,” the Akwatia legislator said.

Bediako Baidoo further alleged that EOCO's evidence showed that Baffour Awuah received payments from all three companies involved in the dispute: SIC Life, Eco Swiss and Equity Micro-Finance.

He claimed that although Baffour Awuah was acting as a lawyer for SIC Life, he negotiated a settlement with Eco Swiss under which the company would pay GH¢5 million in relation to the loan facility.

“He settled with Eco Swiss for them to pay GH$5 million for that loan facility whose principal was even GH¢6 million for the matter to die. These are things Baffour Awuah signed as a solicitor. But as a solicitor, he has to prove here he got the authority to renegotiate a judgment of GH$14 million.

“After this, Eco Swiss gave Baffour Awuah GH$2.2 million. What was this for? You were not their lawyer. All of these are from EOCO documents. As if this was not enough, the people from Equity also gave him over GH$600,000,” he said.

Bediako Baidoo also alleged that the then Managing Director of SIC Life Insurance, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, received GH¢1 million from Baffour Awuah and his law firm.

The allegations have been disputed by Baffour Awuah, who has previously denied claims surrounding the alleged GH¢2.2 million payment and questioned EOCO's basis for scrutinising professional fees charged by his law firm.

He has also rejected claims that a judicial sale of the property took place as alleged.
