It is a great move by the government. The pastors worry a lot: apart from shouting at the top of their voice in that small space, they use bad words; some even get angry with passengers who do say amen or bow their heads to pray with them. On a vehicle that I was travelling on, a muslim passenger had a confrontation with a pastor who was preaching on the vehicle and made a derogatory remark against his religion. Above all, they are looking for money; that is not spreading the word of God. We have enough places of worship in the country.

Because some drivers get their cuts in either getting free products of what they are preaching or selling or some money in a moving buses, they encourage it

However, I will not be surprised if pastors, drivers associations, traditional leaders, etc. etc. start "begging" for the ban to be lifted. In Ghana we always beg.

Public transports are private properties operated by private citizens. Get this......Can a pastor walk to a neighborhood, and without permission, choose and enter a house (say with a balcony) and start preaching to people walking down the street? What right does a so-called pastor have to enter a private bus and start preaching? And have the balls to take donations as well, tax free. Legally, this is trespassing, invasion of privacy, and then some.
This new law does not go far enough to punish drivers of private vehicles, with a hefty fine, who allow the street pastors to preach and disturb the passengers peace. Exacting very hefty fines on drivers/owners of the buses will quickly stop this nonsense. As said no one has the right to enter or use a private citizens property for any purpose without their express permission. Otherwise they bear responsibility for the commission of any illegality. PERIOD!
Work with the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), update the new law to include having the DRIVERS/OWNERS of the buses PAY A HEFTY FINE if they allow violation of this law.
This is one of the HOT ISSUES that ALL THESE SMART 'DAY LIGHT' LAWYERS should hop on radio, TV, social media, to explain and support the government since a stupid MP (sorry) and charlatans are working against it.
