Adjei Baffour Acquah is porpularly known as Solar
Adjei Baffour Acquah, popularly known as Solar, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), citing loyalty, experience and dedicated service as the foundation of his ambition.
Speaking to the media, Adjei Baffour said his decision to seek the position was driven by his longstanding commitment to the party and his desire to strengthen its structures in the Ashanti Region ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He said he had been an active member of the NDC since 2004, serving in various capacities, including Branch Organiser, Branch Secretary, Regional youth finance committee member, Constituency Director of Elections and Constituency Deputy Secretary.
He also contested for the position of Regional Deputy Treasurer in 2018 and subsequently served as a member of the Ashanti Regional Election Directorate from 2018 to 2022.
In 2024, he was appointed as a member of the National Public Relations team of the party’s Mining Committee, a role he said enabled him to engage with mining communities across the country.
Adjei Baffour explained that his years of service had equipped him with the experience and understanding needed to help reorganise and strengthen the party in the Ashanti Region, which is widely regarded as a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, winning political power is different from maintaining it, stressing the need for the NDC to develop effective strategies to consolidate its support base and sustain its hold on power.
He said his ambition was not merely to occupy a regional executive position but to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth, unity and electoral fortunes.
Adjei Baffour further emphasised the importance of hard work, discipline, accessibility and commitment among party executives, arguing that those elected to leadership positions must remain responsive to the needs of members.
He noted that he had consistently participated in party activities, adding that he made efforts to attend programmes even when he had not received formal invitations.
He also called on party members in the Ashanti Region to overcome any reluctance to openly identify with the NDC and work together towards achieving victory in the 2028 general elections.
Adjei Baffour maintained that rebuilding the party’s presence in the region would require sustained grassroots mobilisation, unity and practical strategies rather than promises alone.
He urged party faithful to rally behind the NDC’s collective agenda, insisting that a united and disciplined front would be essential not only to winning the 2028 elections but also to maintaining power thereafter.
He concluded with a call for unity and collective action, expressing confidence that with dedication and effective leadership, the NDC could improve its electoral performance in the Ashanti Region.
“Solar power, everywhere it reaches, it must shine,” he said, using the slogan to express his determination to work towards the party’s success.
He is wishing all constituency aspirants the best of luck and devoid of campaign insults because after elections there should be unity and Teamwork for 2028 and beyond.
