When investors in gold can earn attractive real returns from government bonds they will shift from gold. Another factor that may cause the price to drop will be a strong dollar which will also provide an alternative safe-haven and reduce demand for gold. Other factors may cause the demand to slump and we pray that our planners will be on their guards and desist from putting all their eggs in one basket.
