The Majority Caucus on Foreign Affairs Committee has accused Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, the Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho, of attempting to pressure Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa into allowing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Second Vice-Chairman Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, to retain a service passport

According to the Majority, the MP, together with Nana B, allegedly attempted to persuade the minister to make a special exemption for the NPP executive to continue using the passport despite a presidential directive requiring former officeholders to surrender their diplomatic and service passports.

Addressing the media on October 13, 2026, the Salaga South Member of Parliament, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah said Ablakwa consistently refused to grant what it described as an inappropriate and illegal request from the Bosome Freho MP and Nana B.

It also questioned Nana B’s eligibility for the passport, arguing that his previous positions as NPP National Youth Organiser and board chairman of the National Food Buffer Stock Company did not qualify him to be issued with a service passport.

"Defy President Mahama's directive to all former office holders to surrender their diplomatic and service passports by permitting Nana B to continue to use his service passport with passport number SS00.

What Ablakwa has said about evacuations amid renewed xenophobic attacks

"They did everything possible to compel the minister to create a special exemption for Nana B. The foreign minister consistently refused to grant the inappropriate and illegal request from Honorable Asafo Adjei and Henry Nana Boakye, now the second Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party", she noted.

Hajia Zuwera Mohammed continued, "The minister's strict compliance with the presidential directive and refusal to be corrupted must clearly be the reason for the consistent, baseless, unguaranteed personal attacks and character assassination".

The accusation comes amid a dispute between the Majority and Minority caucuses over the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s handling of the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.

Asafo-Adjei Ayeh has also questioned the reported GH¢49.72 million spent on the exercise, citing alleged inconsistencies in documents the Ministry provided in response to his Right to Information (RTI) request.
