You will pay this money yet no receipt will be issued and when you insist, you will be given a receipt that has no name of the commission on it.

If you can't afford a two bedroom why don't you rent one bedroom or find places that will suit pockets. To say you wanted to rent with a friend but disappointed you is a foolish talk to the landlady. Never make decisions on people's promises, what if they disappoint you . You pay for the agreed money or pack your things and leave peacefully. The only error the landlady committed here is to forcibly break in your room without your knowledge which I think is against the law to that so you can sue her either than that stop making small issues turn into big issues because you are stupid

Tenants who don't pay rent must not be protected by any law (that encourages irresponsibility). Tenancy agreements are contracts that must be honoured abd the courts must rather protect the sanctity of contracts!

The commissioner rebuked the landlord for evicting the tenant. The tenant is also at fault. Waiting till the last minute to find a roommate is unacceptable. In this country we attach sentiments to business. The landlady is doing business. This tenant is preventing landlord from getting income because of her careless action. Most tenants come up with flimsy excuses, when it's time to pay money. This is very frustrating to landlords. Now, the rent control law is against landlords who forcefully evict tenants. They have to wait for the slow process of the law to evict tenants. During this period Most tenants refuse to pay for the extra time they live in the property. The abuse of landlords/tenants must stop.
It goes both ways. The word of God says that " do unto others what you want them to do unto you." There must be a law/guidelines that explain the rights of both landlords/tenants. This information must be on the rent control website. When people read and understand this info, they will be well prepared, and always do the right thing. I have lived and rented apartments overseas.
Their courts give fast judgment to landlords/tenants. The same can be done in Ghana to ease the frustration that landlords go through. I've experienced this myself, so I know what I'm talking about.

Today so called landlady threw a tenant things out and we are watching. Somewhere last month a tenant was ejected in Spain and the demonstration was just nice to alert authorities about the housing deficit for action to be taken but ghana we are too gentle and only talk.

Infact the laws of Ghana does not even work when you take a renter to court. In my own experience as provider, a renter lived in my apartment for 4 months without payment, I went to rent control and they said I should pay to processed for court which cost me an additional 1300 ghs altogether. This female renter and her guy friend moved out quietly one night when they sensed the court case was approaching. I again informed rent control about the monies owed and they said I now need to pay another money to track the renter and reprocess them for court. This is why I support that the landlady did the right thing to cut and avoid obvious losses in the future. It is not always homeowner’s fault, some tenants can be terrible too.

If you are a landlord or landlady and you have no patience to follow the rules of the business, l advise that you quit otherwise, you can land yourself in big trouble. Tenants too deserve respect.
