It is deeply troubling that attacks against Israelis, including suicide bombings and terrorist violence, are sometimes met with far less outrage than Israel’s military response. The killing of innocent people, whether Israeli or Palestinian, should never be excused, justified, or selectively condemned.

Israel has a legitimate right to protect its citizens from terrorism and external threats. However, that right, like every state's right to self-defence, must be exercised in accordance with international law. The suffering of innocent civilians on either side should never be dismissed.

Israel has the right to exist, the right to defend its people, and the right to live in security. No amount of international outrage should mean that Israeli lives matter less than anyone else’s. Justice and humanity demand consistency, not selective outrage.
