Instead of you Mahama, taking over the Tarkwa mines when their licence expires next April, to develop Ghana you are busy negotiating with Goldfields secretly to renew their licence and telling us that we need BRICS to develop.

Good move, Mr President. Ghana, by extension, African countries, have known only the West since Gold Coast and they made sure we remain in a quagmire in terms of development. We remembered how they thwarted Dr Nkrumah every step of the way when he was bent on Industrilizing Ghana until he turned to the Soviet Union. It was only then they decided to give him the loan he desperately needed with conditions that can't help. It has been like that forever. They never wanted us to develop.

What has BRICS and South-South done for South Africa, with GDP growth below 2% and very high unemployment and crime rate. Just work to feed yourself, build things, minimize corruption, be disciplined and other countries will come and invest with Ghana. Exporting gold, bauxite, oil and importing tomatoes, frozen chicken, ginger, rice is embarrassing and must be stopped, not by joining BRICS, but by serious plan and action to industrialize on all fronts.
