Painting a spouse, relative in a poor light and spreading malicious gossip will always backfire. The same is true for our brethren in the Lord. It is the same as sawing the very tree branch that we are sitting on in the hope that the person we are badmouthing who is sitting on the same branch will be the only one hurt when the branch breaks. It is also the same as setting fire to your brother or sister's room when you are also living in the same house because you'll succeed in destroying yourself as well.
