President John Dramani Mahama was among the African leaders who attended the Russia-Africa Summit hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Speaking at the Third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow on Thursday, October 29, 2026, President Mahama welcomed Russian President Putin’s willingness to resume trilateral talks involving Ukraine.

The Ghanaian President said ongoing conflicts across the world had resulted in loss of life, human suffering and disruptions to global logistics and supply chains, underscoring the need for international cooperation to restore peace and stability.

“Ghana calls for an amicable resolution of these various conflicts ongoing around the world.

“Mr President, we appreciate your willingness to resume trilateral talks in respect of the conflict with Ukraine and your call for a lasting peace agreement and security for both Russia and Ukraine,” he said.

Beyond the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Mahama called for greater international cooperation and solidarity in the fight against terrorism, particularly in the territories of the Alliance of Sahel States.

“The most lasting expression of our friendship will be the progress our people can see in their communities and their lives,” he added.
