Ampem Darkoa Ladies have secured qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Nigeria’s Edo Queens 1-0 in the continuation of the WAFU Zone B qualifying final in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The Ghana Women’s Premier League champions scored two minutes into extra time to take the lead and move ahead 3-2 on aggregate, having drawn 2-2 with Edo Queens in the original encounter played in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on September 5.

Ampem Darkoa held on to their advantage despite sustained pressure from the Nigerian side to secure the victory and book their place in the continental competition.

The decisive fixture was a continuation of the original final after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) annulled Edo Queens’ 4-1 penalty shootout victory following a successful protest by Ampem Darkoa.

The original match ended 2-2 after regulation time, but the teams proceeded directly to penalties without playing the required extra time.

CAF subsequently ruled that the match should resume from the start of extra time, with two 15-minute periods to be played and a fresh penalty shootout required if the scores remained level.

The CAF Appeal Board upheld the decision on October 16, paving the way for the two teams to settle the contest on the pitch in Egypt.

Ampem Darkoa’s victory earns them a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, where they will represent Ghana against some of the continent’s leading women’s clubs.

The Techiman-based outfit will compete in Group B alongside Morocco’s AS FAR, Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies and Mali’s USFAS Bamako. The tournament is scheduled to run from November 1 to 15 in Egypt.
