Boss, let me share one thing I have learnt about life abroad. In Africa, particularly in Ghana, when you are calm, reserved and soft-spoken, people tend to see you as a respectful and well-mannered person. They might even say, “Wɔn pɛ ne ho sɛnt koraa” (he is very quiet and keeps to himself). That kind of personality is often appreciated in Ghana.

However, things can be quite different abroad. If you are too quiet, reserved and socially withdrawn, people may perceive you as unintelligent, awkward or even foolish, whereas in Ghana, such qualities are often admired and associated with good manners.

I believe your son could have benefited from opening up a little more, interacting with his classmates and making an effort to integrate socially with them.

This is one of the things I have come to understand since moving abroad: cultural differences can have a significant impact on how people perceive and relate to one another.

Nevertheless, my sincere condolences on the loss of your son. Losing a loved one is heartbreaking. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Not every white man is a racist., l had the opportunity to work among whites and was treated very well. However those black co-workers were the ones who disrespected me . When l was not able to grab my two sons to US, l didn't give up. I made sure they have college degrees in Ghana , and fast forward they are all gainfully employed in Ghana. And now l thank God l live in Ghana. My heart weep for the bereaved family. Grabbing your children and spouse to the US is not the highest achievement in the US. USA is over rated.
