The father of 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong has urged the teenagers suspected of shooting his son dead in the Bronx, New York, to surrender to the police.

Thomas Frimpong said his son had complained about being bullied by two boys at school just days before he was shot while on his way to school.

Speaking about the incident, Thomas disclosed that the school principal called him about three days before the shooting to inform him that two students were disturbing Javits and had been suspended.

He said he contacted his son to check whether he was safe, and Javits assured him he was fine.

However, when the teenager returned home, he told his father that one of the boys regularly bullied him whenever he went for lunch.

“He said, any time I’m going to lunch, especially one of them, always bullies me. I said, why? Why don’t you hear that? He said, he always reports them,” Thomas recounted.

According to him, the principal later explained that Javits was innocent in the earlier confrontation and had only been defending himself. The two boys involved were subsequently suspended.

Thomas also described his son as a quiet teenager who had moved from Africa to join him in the United States only a year earlier.

He said Javits spent much of his time on his phone and rarely left his bedroom to interact with others.

The grieving father called on those responsible for his son’s death to surrender to the police.

“I would tell them to give themselves to the police. I don’t think they are going to go free,” he said.
