Benard Antwi Bosiako is the former Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP
The Head Pastor of God's Believers International Chapel, Prophet Nana Osei Bediako, has predicted that former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, will be granted bail on November 4, 2026, but could return to prison in December.
According to the prophet, he received a revelation from God concerning Wontumi's legal troubles, with further developments expected in the coming months.
Speaking in a viral video sighted by GhanaWeb on November 1, 2026, Prophet Nana Osei Bediako said Wontumi would be granted bail when he appears before the court on November 4, 2026.
However, he warned that the expected release would not necessarily mark the end of his legal troubles, predicting that Wontumi would be remanded in December 2026 and imprisoned again in February 2027.
"God has revealed something to me about Chairman Wontumi. God said on November 4, 2026, Wontumi will go to court and he will be granted bail. Again, I saw that he will be remanded in December 2026, and he will be imprisoned in February 2027," he said.
The prophet further cautioned Wontumi against becoming overly excited if the court grants him bail, urging him to pay attention to spiritual matters.
"So, when Wontumi is granted bail, he shouldn't be too excited. When he is granted bail, he should pay attention to spiritual matters."
Jailing Wontumi won't end galamsey; so who will protect Ghana's future?
Prophet Nana Osei Bediako indicated that Wontumi's response to the spiritual warning could determine whether he regains his freedom permanently.
"If he is able to do this, God will show him mercy and he will regain his freedom forever, but if he doesn't, he will be sent back to prison," he added.
Meanwhile, the High Court in Accra is scheduled to rule on November 4, 2026, on Wontumi's application for bail pending an appeal against his 20-year prison sentence imposed on July 20, 2026, following his conviction on six counts relating to illegal mining.
The charges included unlawfully assigning mineral rights without ministerial approval and facilitating unlicensed mining operations on the Samreboi concession in the Western Region, contrary to provisions of Ghana's Minerals and Mining Act.
Wontumi has also been accused of causing financial loss of more than GH¢30 million to the Ghana Export-Import Bank (EXIM).
He is facing charges of defrauding by false pretences, two counts of uttering forged documents and causing financial loss to the state.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
