Ghana needs to depart from the seniority system in the appointment of the CJ. Appointing someone who has a year or two to retire is a complete retrogression. Baffoe-Bonnie had only a year and a half to retire and had no time to introduce any meaningful changes to the judiciary system. He only bided his time to enjoy the perks of office of the CJ. Ghana needs to appoint a younger person who has at least tens to retire so that the person can carry out the necessary reforms in the courts system.
