I was the only Resident Housemistress catering for over 500 girls in a Mixed Boarding SHS some years back before the FSHS. The way I suffered only Myself and God know. Some Students have life threatening sicknesses like Asthma, Epilepsy which needs prompt attention when in crisis. Parents refuse to inform School Authorities bcos they know their children will be refused Boarding Status putting such Students at high risk.

If I had my way I would delete about half the number of boarding schools in Ghana or make only 20 percent of schools in the country boarding schools and only middle class or rich parents will send their kids there. The rest will all be day schools..if you live in Kumari send your kids to school there. If you live in.cape coast send your kids to school there.....let them.get ready to apply tonuniversity and live on campus by then they would have matured..how do you send a kid who is 11 or 12 to go to boarding school at such a tender age in such conditions?

If a kid is complaining of sickness you direct them asap to thr school clinic and upon what thr clinic staff says you call an ambulance send them to the hospital. I went to this school. From 1994 when I graduated till now I'm sure not much renovations has gone on. But come to my catholic higg school in toronto and see the renovations and expansion? These foolish leaders will spend money to paint the school, buy school bus, buy a new gate, brass band, cadet etc and make all the outward appearances pretty for all to see but go inside the dorms and inside the school etc and you will be dismayed. Dinning hall is dirty, same old tables and benches, bad food no balamced diet, terrible living dorms, busted windows, no school clinics, no trash bins, busshy and dirty surroundings, no school security and ofcourse the male teachers are secretly chopping the girls. Why would anynparent send their kids tonsuch places? Cant you see the danger? You can't see? .when was the last time any principal from ghanacoll went to a boarding school in Canada or US or anywhere in Europe to shadow best practices over there and replicate what western societies are doing in boarding schools? Dada naa the same primitive mindset since 1948 is what they are still using to run these boarding schools. When inwas there some guy used to walk inside thr bushes killing the monkeys we were feeding bananas to..this guy would killed the monkeys and come show us thr dead blood soaked carcass. I hated the guy. Then he would go roast thr money and eat it. He has eaten all the monkeys in the bush and no one did anything to him look at this....thr monkeys are there to control the ecosystem. The parents of girls girl should blame themselves for their stupidity for sending an asthma prone girl into a dusty school that don't even have a school dr, nurse or clinic and now you will cry and blame God for your stupidity. They should sue thr gh educational service and ghanacoll fkr dropping the ball. This is the only way to illicit change in boarding schools in afuom Ghana
