Unfortunately this could be very bad news for the Gulf region and Middle East. The Iran Vs USA/ Israel war was a major reason for the collapse of support for Trump and the Republicans as angry USA voters registered their deep displeasure with Trump's controversial decision to wage war on Iran. It appears that Iran delivered on its threat to make Trump pay a painful price at November midterm elections.
Iran's National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei boasted today "the Iranian nation handed [US President Donald] Trump a strategic defeat on the battlefield and in the Hormuz [Strait], and a political defeat in Washington."
"Meanwhile, Americans got stuck with the bill for his war. Anyone who takes on Iran will pay the price—from the battlefield to their own doorstep," he wrote on X.
An enraged Trump may well go all out in the next round of attacks on Iran and herein lies the danger. Iran has promised to respond with everything it has on all its perceived adversaries including it's oil rich neighbours who allow their territory or airspace to be used during any attacks on Iran.
This is not a good time for any Ghanaian to be living in the Gulf region or Middle East. The whole region is a gigantic powderkeg ready to blow up at a moments notice. If this happens escape from the region would become well nigh impossible as air and land routes quickly became unavailable or unusable .Also survival would become virtually impossible if Iran followed through with it's repeated threats to attack the critical infrastructure including water desalination plants and power plants of adversaries in the region. Life would become unsustainable in most parts of the region if this happened as natural freshwater supplies are woefully lacking. Most countries in the region are dependent on freshwater supplies obtained via desalination plants that treat seawater to make it drinkable. Desalination plants are the only viable source of freshwater for most of these desert countries.
The use of nuclear weapons by any side as some seem to suggest would inevitably result in retaliation in kind rendering large parts of the region unfit for human habitation and spreading radioactive material far beyond that region. Let's pray that God Almighty will have mercy on the people of the region and on the world and avert the looming catastrophe faces that part of the world and by extension the rest of humanity..
