If only Ukraine had accepted the 2022 Istanbul peace agreement they would have kept every inch of their territories. They have lost to Russia the most productive and resource rich part of their territories (the predominantly Russian speaking Eastern part of the Ukraine )and now they face the typically extremely cold Ukrainian winter for the first time since this conflict began without access to reliable sources of energy. It is going to be a very cold,dark and hungry winter. It's not a good position to be in. Also Ukraine is de-facto now land-locked as the Russians have made sure ships can't reach them via the Black sea.
Perhaps worse still is the fact that some of Ukraine's most important supporters appear to be walking back their support for them. For sure Ukraine is hurting Russia to some extent but the reality is that time is not on Ukraine's side. Russia is a vast country with vast resources and if it chose could escalate its attacks to a much much higher level perhaps even to a full blown all out war. The future does not look good. Pray for an end to this terrible conflict.
