What is the benefit and usefulness of investigation a fire out break incidents? Many times you hear that an investigation is being conducted and nothing meaniful comes of the so call investigations.It is time the authorities concern stand up and ensure that our laws are enforced to the latter without any human face issues. We have been comparing with nations like Malaysia,South Korea and the rest.But what we have failed to ask ourselves is whether we are behaving they the they do.Let us stop the blame games

Let's not be decieved. Just because we compare ourselves with some countries does not put us in their class as far as achievements are concerned. My definition of achievement is 'being able to use a country's independence as a step towards improving the living conditions of our people'.

Yes, Ghana gained 'independence' in 1957 just around the same period as Malaysia (1957), Singapore (1965), South Korea (1945) and Indonesia (1945). What do we have to show for it? Essentially nothing! All these countries have something to show for theirs. We still periodically go around the world hat in hand begging for loans to pay our government employees. Some independence!

In Ghana, law and order has gone to the dogs. We essentially have no laws and even the little laws we have on the books are never implemented. Why? Because our elected officials, police, judges and every last one of us is corrupt. People build houses without permits and these house meet no building codes. You can also add as many buildings or rooms to the ones on your land as you want. What do you think then will happen to electricity? Eventually there will be overloading, a fire and things and people burn down. It is the same scenario in this market too. Who is to blame? The government and the people.

Ghanaians should know that every little ‘corner we cut’, every bribe we take, every negligence of our duty, directly or indirectly, someone’s life is at stake. When we look the other way for someone to put up buildings that don’t meet any safety standards or building codes, someone’s life is at stake. When we bring that ignorant electrician to come and tap electricity from an illegal source to our premises, someone or something is likely to catch fire some day. When our police take bribes and leave the drunk driver at the wheel, someone’s life is at stake; when our judges take bribes and let the criminals go, someone’s life is at stake; when our politicians steal our money and good roads (and other project) do not get built, someone’s life is at stake; when our doctors steal Government hospital equipment and medicines for their own private practice, someone’s life is at stake.

Some stupid western governments will be touting the fact that Ghana has had yet another peaceful election. Democracy should be judged not by how successful an election we had but by how orderly the society is and whether the people are getting any benefit from our system. At any rate, is this Ghana thing working for us? So why do we keep recycling the same leaders. Nkrumah's kids are back in politics; Akuffo Addo's kid is back in politics; very soon the children of Rawlings, Kuffuor, Mills and Mahama might want to do the same. I am kind of surprised Busia's kids haven't shown up. Oh well, maybe they are just late.

What is the Asantehene and the Gold he received goes? I guess he(the Asantehene) has travelled to most of Western countries or even Dubai and have seen what they called Shopping Centres (Markets).
I guess the revenue from Gold he received could be use to rebuild World Class Central Market and bring back the Garden City of West Africa.

What does the Asantehene do with all the royalties he gets from the gold and other natural resources of the Ashanti people? It is his responsibilty to make sure that every citizen in Ashanti traditional area have a good life in terms of development in the whole of Ashanti. Some of the money he received on behalf of the Ashanti people should be used for development in Kumasi.

By the way, Kumasi is cleaner than Accra and has some beautiful areas (in particular some suburbs of Kumasi), there has been rapid development. When did Otumfuo become the absolute overlord of Kumase state? He can`t dictate anything to Amanhenes like Agogohene or Aduabenhene (Adontenhene of Kumase). Remember some years ago, the Adontenhene/Aduabenhene even dragged the late Asantehene Opoku Ware II to court over a land dispute.

“Sometimes the capacity of the power they are picking from these switches are more than the power that is being supplied to them”. So you better do something about it and stop making these comments. Just be proactive.

Have you taken the time to tell them the dangers of overloading their circuits? If the fire outbreak was as a result of electrical problems,then the blame is yours. Even in advance country, there are occassional talks on the safety use of electricity as well as Gas.I have participated in this project on several occassions in where I am, here in Europe. You people are just taking things for granted.
