One day my late father sat me down and said – I know you genuinely think what you are doing is right, but I have been there like you and have the truth for you; believe me son, they are nation wreckers.
He continued. I went to prison 5months supporting the UP (United Party) and fighting Nkrumah. I did that because of the trust I had in what I heard. After some years and by 1964, I realized it was all wrong. That it is either them or no one else. It’s not about the Nation.
Obviously, I refused to accept what Dad told me until he died in 2005. I am now grown enough to understand what he meant. Dad I am sorry, I should have respected the fact that “you have been there before”

Glad your father was only imprisoned for 5 months. You and him should really THANK GOD for that mercy. I wish my father got that from PNDC/NDC in 1984 when as a 12 year old boy in Form 1 my father was picked up at night under the pretext that he was a good secondary school friend of someone who was wanted for planning a coup and none of us saw his face ever again. At least you were able to bury your father. I wish I had just that opportunity to put my father in a COFFIN and say "Fare thee well".

I applaud Dr NDUOM for his very timely statement regarding respect for the president. He is right that whilst a supreme court ruling is impending, we must never forget that the presidency is first and office, before the human being occupying it.

By respecting that office, we also are bound by our laws to respect the occupant of that office (unless of course that occupant does anything to bring the name of that office into disrepute). As far as one can tell, the latter situation has NOT arisen and WE as a people are obliged to play our part to make the office of the president stronger, and our democracy even more consolidated.

The name calling and tribal politics and innuendo must stop. Those who use the 'Free Media' to propagate their disrespect and brand of hatred must cease and begin to take themselves and everyone more seriously. Well meaning Ghanaians should boycott those who promote such disrespect.

IT IS NOT POLITICS AND LEAST OF ALL GOOD POLITICS to resort to base, crass and cheap insults of the president and others in authority and those who indulge in such acts are doing a gross disservice to the nation.

Whilst we are entitled to our disagreements with government, appointees, elected officials and others in authority (including e.g. The chairman of the electoral commission), it is totally wrong for any of us to think that we can attack such people without having to pay a price for that. I hope Ghanaians of all parties, tribes and political affiliation will heed Dr Nduom's words of wisdom and show RESPECT FOR THE PRESIDENT and our motherland Oman Ghana.

Just a month in office, the Turkish government has impounded a plane fully loaded with gold from Ghana with false documentation. How did such thing happen? The NPP deserves tons of commendation for showing to the world that ghanaians settle their disputes and differences in the law courts instead of shooting at each other. If Mahama and the NDC can respect the decision of the court, whether it's in their favor or not as Nana and the NPP has already stated then there's a bright hope for democracy and the rule of law in Ghana.
