I do not like the situation where for example the rights of minority races, women and homosexuals are bundled together and treated asif they are have everything in common.Let us be objective in this matter of homsexuality. We have to look deep into what drives people into this act - does biology play a part of is it pervasion? Is our soceity willing and able to be consentised to live with this? Do gays have to demand that soceity accept the way they choose to live? so many questions but I think we need to ask them and search for answers. The threats from religious bodies do not help. After all as they try to justify their faith with their preachings, others should also be given the chance to do same.

Wee Market Opens In Ho

Date: 15-Jan-2013

A 24-hour wee market has started full-time operation at Ho, the Volta Regional Capital.

The market, which has attracted all kinds of drug dealers, users and investors to the regional capital, has for the past five months, made very high returns.

The booming Ho drug market which some have described as the fastest growing drug enclave in the country, is located within the Anlokordzi area spreading to the Kpaco House, the location where a young man was killed last June during a dawn swoop.

The heart of the wee market is believed to be behind the Metro Mass Transport Terminal and its tremendous progress is believed to have been the byproduct of the June 10, 2012 shooting incident which saw the death of one Atsu Mensah.

The operations of the drug market and major actors, residents complained, had affected their health, security and social life. Others have also been affected by the excesses of the market including robbery, attacks and assaults.

Last Saturday, the operations of the wee market were scuttled when the Volta Regional Police Command conducted a dawn swoop in the area.

The Regional Police Commander, Mr Alex Bedie, noted that out of the many dealers and peddlers, only 20 were arrested including a female and a physically-challenged man.

He explained that the Police had several reports that wee peddling had resumed in full swing after the shooting incident last year June.

As a result, the police conducted their own investigations which revealed that “a 24-hour complete wee market” was operating in the regional capital.

DCOP Bedie noted that the residents had been taken hostage by the activities of the wee peddlers and users to the extent that every available space in the vicinity had been taken over.

He said some could not even open their windows due to the wee smoke, and the fear of being robbed. He recounted the complaint of a resident who proved that she and her family had been told by doctors that they were wee smokers after they had been tested over some health problems.

Apparently, the amount of smoke emitted through the activities of the wee market had made them passive smokers, hence affecting their eyes and lungs.

The police boss said “these people have taken over the whole area with no normal, peaceful, human activity apart from their nefarious activities.”

He said a profile would be conducted on each suspect arrested for a thorough investigation to bring the peddlers, users and lead actors of the wee market to book. DCOP Bedie also assured residents that the Police would ensure that their homes were not turned into drug hideouts and shops.

Why he has to get involve in this,is it Amnesty International that will tell us who we should make a minister?

The woman said gays have right in a country where it is illegal to be gay and based on that these people are on her that she is not fit to be a minister especially the position she is nominated for.

I personally feel she must be given the chance to explain what she mean by gays have right in Ghana and to know if she will respect the laws and culture of the country not to promote homosexualism in the country.

We should not follow people to allow that insanity in our country,it is not everything that is human rights,in Ghana homosexuality is a crime and a taboo,not human rights,they do not have any right in our country to practice that crap.

Oye should rather champion a cause that would help change the chemistry of such gays, making them become conversant with societal aspirations from them. There are a lot of copycats in Ghana who sometimes WANT TO BE MORE CATHOLIC THAN THE POPE. Oye is one of them. Oye,probably from Akwapim and possibly a Presbyterian or Presbyterian trained should have been the last person to support gayism and their Rights in Ghana.

Some Anglicans even cannonize homosexuals but that does not happen in Ghana or Africa. To Africans, homosexuality is a taboo.

What will Amnesty International say if the appointment involved an open supporter of polygyny in the West? Attacks against Homosexuality in the case of Ghana is not only religious but also cultural. The West have adopted some positions in the name of democracy that are at variance with their cultures. Nobody is saying that homosexuals must be lynched but there should not be any open support for such practices just like we shall not support kleptomania. If Oye should think that should have Rights as any other Ghanaian, then she is mistaken. We do not need even the clergy to oppose her but the rest of Ghanaians. Oye should understand that our culture will not accept marriage of people of the same sex. I wish Mahama drops her or cabinet rejects her until she changes her position on homosexuality.

Ghanaians should pick and choose what is good in other cultures but not any useless and stupid thing.
We know that god created man and woman for a specific purpose. Procreation. That is why there should be a mortar and pestle when we want to eat fufu. When did we see two pestles hitting each other or two mortars facing each other to make fufu?

the problem we are having with oyi lithur and afraid as a solid society about her newly appointed role is to influence to legalised the imorality into our solid society.
and we are finding it defficult to understand why should the government used my tax money to promote immorality to destroy our society?.

They should fight for several innocent men and women languishing in jail and others persecuted for holding different faith in some countries in the Arab world and some asian countries.

This is what 1st Book of Corinthians Chapter 6 versus 9 and 10 say: “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”
God abhors sin but loves the sinner. That is why He sent His only begotten Son Jesus to come and die for sinners to believe Him and have their sins forgiven.
All sins are equal before God hence the name “Sinner” fits every mankind. Again, we are equal before the law of the land hence we all deserve our freedom within the limits of the law.
Any person who does something against the law can only be sanctioned by the law and not by any zealot. Taking the law into one’s hands to persecute and torture others whom we think we are better than is unlawful act.
Those who consider homosexuals as the only sinners that exist and harass, persecute and inflict pain on them are committing unlawful acts and they must desist from it. It is for such vulnerable persons that Nana Oye Lithur advocate for their protection. There is no sense in suggesting that Nana Oye Lithur promotes homosexuality or is a homosexual herself.

At the end of the day, the homosexuality they are using against her, is not the major reason why she is being nominated. Her position i think, would cover matters concerning basic human rights, They shouldn,t forget that homosexuality is based on individual choices, depending on their cultures and values; The most important issues at hand, which i would like these concerned group of clergy to do is to stop using black magic and occult spirits to operate churches. They should think of promoting true christianity, rather than Setting themselves up in a room to source religious information/spy on a ladies nakedness in her flat, chanting and casting spells to destroy children and causing havoc in world.
