Wee Market Opens In Ho

A 24-hour wee market has started full-time operation at Ho, the Volta Regional Capital.

The market, which has attracted all kinds of drug dealers, users and investors to the regional capital, has for the past five months, made very high returns.

The booming Ho drug market which some have described as the fastest growing drug enclave in the country, is located within the Anlokordzi area spreading to the Kpaco House, the location where a young man was killed last June during a dawn swoop.

The heart of the wee market is believed to be behind the Metro Mass Transport Terminal and its tremendous progress is believed to have been the byproduct of the June 10, 2012 shooting incident which saw the death of one Atsu Mensah.

The operations of the drug market and major actors, residents complained, had affected their health, security and social life. Others have also been affected by the excesses of the market including robbery, attacks and assaults.

Last Saturday, the operations of the wee market were scuttled when the Volta Regional Police Command conducted a dawn swoop in the area.

The Regional Police Commander, Mr Alex Bedie, noted that out of the many dealers and peddlers, only 20 were arrested including a female and a physically-challenged man.

He explained that the Police had several reports that wee peddling had resumed in full swing after the shooting incident last year June.

As a result, the police conducted their own investigations which revealed that “a 24-hour complete wee market” was operating in the regional capital.

DCOP Bedie noted that the residents had been taken hostage by the activities of the wee peddlers and users to the extent that every available space in the vicinity had been taken over.

He said some could not even open their windows due to the wee smoke, and the fear of being robbed. He recounted the complaint of a resident who proved that she and her family had been told by doctors that they were wee smokers after they had been tested over some health problems.

Apparently, the amount of smoke emitted through the activities of the wee market had made them passive smokers, hence affecting their eyes and lungs.

The police boss said “these people have taken over the whole area with no normal, peaceful, human activity apart from their nefarious activities.”

He said a profile would be conducted on each suspect arrested for a thorough investigation to bring the peddlers, users and lead actors of the wee market to book. DCOP Bedie also assured residents that the Police would ensure that their homes were not turned into drug hideouts and shops.

The immediate question is; how did the dead man come to sign his own personal tribute, since he is already in heaven?

The President should remember that the judges are well trained and experienced and would not allow themselves to be toyed with.

I think that the President and his legal team must be reasonable in putting up their defence if they genuinely believe that they won the elections. Tricks just to cause delays would be unethical and cannot fly. I wish the President well.

If NPP can agitate to recuse judges who are likely not to sympathise with them thereby improving their chances of winning, then how is morality relevant in this case? This is purely the rule of law at play. In a boxing ring, winning by teasing the opponent into loosing control and concentration is still a win.
There are 26000 polling stations in 275 constituencies. Depending on the additional evidence NPP will provide, it may be necessary to have witnesses from all the polling stations in all the constituencies. Each polling station has party 2 agents (2x8 political parties [16x26000]), at least 4 election observers per polling station in 100 polling stations[100 x4], returning officer [26000 x1), collation centre returning officer (2x275), party agents at constituency collation centre (2x275), John Mahama 1, Akuffo Addo 1, Jake Lamptey 1, Bawumia 1, Dr Afari Djan and deputies (3) etc

Most of these will be resolved by the legal assistants for Mahama, Akuffo Addo and the EC.

If any slips cannot be reconciled, and they will be very few, the court will simmply order a re-count of votes from the sealed ballot boxes.

All in all it should not take long.

If I am not far from right Mahama's decision by calling 4,800 witnesses speak for itself and the kind of person he is as a true leader. Since ghanaians has choose evil instead of good the entire Country will suffer in the hands of few people that can force their way to the top. Believe it or not one day a child will rise up and kill all this corrupt leaders even more than what JJ did. Supreme Court Judges should be protected because we all saw what happened to the 3judges that was slaughtered by this same party. Judges fear not and do the right thing.

Let us be real, those Judges were not killed under NDC, NDC was not around when the Judges were killed. Will you associate President Kuffour with the murder of the Judges? He worked for the PNDC.

As a true winner, why couldn't he say that, besides the 3 NPP guys who have sued him, the NPP registered members, he was calling on ALL Ghanaians as his witness? This could have made his case more stronger. Why just call 4,800? Isn't that something to ponder? Their deed will follow them & if not today, somewhere along the lines, they would be caught one by one and the whole world would get to know them. I'll advise NPP to stay focus & let the Lord guide them. Whatever the Stupid guys from NDC may say, shouldn't make them loose focus cos, no matter how long it takes, they will still be the winners & the so called JM would be disgraced.

I watched the show on MYJoyonline and he was the best on the panel. Unfortunately Prof Quaye and Nana Ato Dadzie were "all over the place" with their explanations. Prof. Abotsi was logical and explained things clearly. Bravo!
