So many people have to leave their lifes due to miserable drivers and catastrophic roads.

Motor vehicle department is weak! They can make tons of money from traffic violation but they would sit and cry for government subsidy. In my area. The police are given a number of tickets that they must make sure they give before the end of duty that day. They are aggressive and make money for the city/town. We don't have to see accidents before we impose fines. One would say well, it doesn't concern me. Tomorrow it will be your turn. Road accidents are just toooooo much in Ghana.

Let what you teach and live purge you of this insensitivity. I think you lack the latter. Go to the University of Cape Coast to have an answer to your question. Think about the strength of families who would have been graced with these educated daughters of our land. The investigators should seek to understand the direct and indirect contributors to this tragedy, and take measures to avert any such happening in the future. When traffic lights are malfunctioning anywhere, especially near University of Ghana, where there are usually several pedestrians and vehicles, we need a system that can detect and manage such situations immediately. That is just one area to investigate and understand. Prof and family, due ne amanehu. Condolences can not be enough Prof.

But this is the lawlessness and indiscipline I always write about. There is indiscipline, lawlessness and chaos everywhere in our dear country. How on earth can two drivers all speed to cross a traffic light showing amber. Can they reason that there's a problem so we must slow down?
Over here in down south where I ply my trade, traffic lights at one 4-way on a major/busy road had a problem today, but drivers slowed down and wait for their turn to move without traffic police. I wonder what the situation would be in Accra! Chaos and chaos! What's wrong with Ghanaians!! Patience is a VIRTUE we need to cultivate as a nation!
Unless and until we tackle the problem of indiscipline and lawlessness in Ghana we will keep marching time as a nation.

This is very sad indeed. But what makes it even sadder is that this is not the first of its kind and the fact taht something similar could happen elsewhere in future.This is simply traced to the fact that we fail to reflect on the past, learn from what went wrong, pick up the pieces and work to prevent the occurrence of anything of the sort in future.

If our governments work properly,if our institutions work properly and if everybody thinks hard about how to prevent accidents on our roads, at least we are not gonna be seeing things like this at that alarming frequency.

I will be happy if traffic lights work properly and in the event of fault, traffic policeman directs traffic and most of all governments ensure drivers are fit before they drive. That is to say, they should have passed their tests and their cars are roadworthy with all the required road signs in place. God bless Ghana.

The lights are a problem. Why do they all go amber sometimes? WHO HAS RIGH OF WAY THEN???
Why do they get turned off? Eg at the Cantonments junction, Giffard Rd near El Wak, they are turned off at at night.

However, a little patient on part of all drivers in Ghana will go a long way to save lives. All these drivers who bought their licenses at DMV has to be tracked down by BNI and jailed them at least for 10 years. They are murderers. MAY THEY REST IN PEACE.
