This press briefing is being organized by the Principal spiritual leaders of the Ga state, to wit the Nai wulomo,Sakumo wolumo and Korle wulomo in collaboration with the Gbese stool,Asere stool,Sempe stool and Abola stool under the auspices of the Ga Paramount stool Dzase.
It has come to our attention through the Daily Graphic and other local newspapers that Dr. Joe Blankson-Lartey,the pretender “Ga mantse”has died. Against all Ga tradition customary norms and practices he sought to usurp the Ga stool by conniving with renegade male and female Ga stool elders and with the active participation and support of some state functionaries, against the will of the people of Ga mashie to impose himself as a“legitimate”Ga mantse .
This sacrilege has resulted in the untimely deaths of a numbers of those who took active roles in his so-called installation. Notwithstanding these tragic occurrences, they continued with all impunity to frustrate the legitimate kingmakers, despite six cases filed at the regional chieftaincy tribunal at Dodowa against his attempt to usurp the Ga stool .
We wish to place on record that although we have established out cases at Dodowa, and he was called upon by the Tribunal to open his defence, he refused to do so, treating the tribunal with contempt until his demise.
For the past six years, the people of Ga mashie have been subjected to the naked ambition of Dr.Joe Blankson-Lartey,a NON-ABOLA indigence in his attempt to usurp and change all Ga customs,norms,tradition and practices as far as succession to the Ga stool is concerned.
We categorically state that the late Dr.Joe Blankson-Lartey was never installed as a Ga mantse by the legitimate king-makers the Ga paramount stool Dzase, the only accredited boody mandate by Ga custom to nominate,select and install a Ga KING. Dr. Joe Blankson-Lartey was never a Ga Mantse until his death which took place allegedly on 11th April, 2012 in a hospital, and not late December, 2012 as the announcement falsely sought to portray.
We wish to inform the general public that the Legitimate Ga Mantse Boni Nii Tackie Adama Latse II is alive and well and performing all his traditional functions. AND for the avoidance of doubt, Nii Yaote Oto-Ga II is the only legitimate and recognized Ga Dzasetse of the Ga Paramount stool.
Furthermore we want to admonish all trouble makers, charlatans and renegades that their era of impunity is over, and the Ga state will no more tolerate their indiscretions.
Finally, we wish to advise chiefs and other prominent Gas who are lobbying for Dr. Joe Blankson-Lartey to be given a royal burial that we never yield to their compromise, pleas that will infringe further on the sacred customs and traditional norms and practices of the Ga people. We will not agree to the perpetration of impunity and illegality any longer. The truth has no shades, and we will not sacrifice the truth for any expediency that may established a bad precedent for the future.
We will not betray our heritage, our tradition our customs. Dr. Joe Blankson-Lartey must be given a decent burial by his family as a private person. We will not allow the perpetration of sacrilege or impunity even in death. Long Live the Ga-Dangme Heritage, long live our sacred traditions,custom,norms usages.
