Let be frank, these MPs,has paid huge amounts of cash to various National Party Officials, and Constituincy Executives to nominate them and vote for them to be in Parliament. So what do you think will happen? I know some of these MPs whose aim is to be there just to be rich, they really do not have any knowledge of their duties, Law, Procedures and the Love of the Nation at heart etc. The blame directly comes from the Costituincies to the National Level, Money! Money!
This time, I suggest the President to be careful in choosing the MCEs and DCEs, if qualified, knowlegeable are choosen, they they force the MPs to work and think of the Constituincy which elcted him or her. But if the MP is not good, and the DCE is the same, how can we improve lifes of the common Ghanain?

Much as we expect our MPs and other public officials to be literate (and numerate - remember the recent NPP arithmetic problems?), we also have to be careful not to wish for an ELITIST parliament which then becomes an exclusive club and disenfranchises whole constituencies. A constituency had had a mental patient as an mp but because he belong to a particular party no paper published anything about him until he did not stand again and another mp from the same party won, all of them never ever opened their mouth in parliament. It will be beneficial if we will look at them objectively and stop mentioning one party. It's simply because they are making some efforts to talk. Kwesi Pratt, you have touched on a very important issue that has never been talked about at all in our political syastem, and that is about the "quality of some of our Parliamentarians". The fact is that our selection system has been ABUSED to such a state that the socalled "PRIMARIES" which is a selection process has been ordaiened by heavy financial corrution within the political system that without "CASH" for the delegates concerned in the individual constituency, the brilliant contender stands no chance. A NATIONAL SURVEY IN THIS CONTEXT WOULD BE VERY USEFUL.

The MPs you see in the Assembly are one eyed representatives form their respective constituencies of blind people. That can easily tell you where they come from in the country. If Mr. Pratt is the same "Old Timer" in printing language of the past I know, he should at least understand that education was the cornerstone of past law makers he envisions. Our Founding Fathers understood the value of education hence the marriage of Independence and Free Education to university level with extension to Mass Education for the elderly as a priority. Children of poor families were not left behind and they exhibited their scholarly intelligence for a better Ghana. Now, the exploitation of talented/educated citizens can not find better working opportunities in Ghana to remain there. Our Soccer Players are recruited to foreign countries to be professionals, graduates from Universities and Secondary Schools are lured to America as "lotto winners". In exchange we have the Chinese and other nationalities dumped into the country under the watchful eyes of the government for surface gold digging to mess the soil of the country big time. This is perhaps the beginning of Nkrumah's "Neocolonialism". Or is this the beginning of the self-styled vacuum the government is perhaps unknowingly helping to create for future Ghana by not educating our children and or not creating enough jobs to keep our citizens home?. We are left with what we see as the struggling left-over in the Assembly to make laws for us as Mr. Pratt is disturbed of. Mr. Pratt, the only way in my opinion one can ask any relevant question is the understanding of the subject matter in discussion. I suggest Fresh Lawmakers need a three-month Parliamentary-101 Introductory Course in a business school or Legon before Parliament starts. Maybe that will help the Lawmakers better than loading them with allowances and car loans with drivers etc. That course should incllude one required course in driver education lessons to eliminate an MP having a driver in VW. This will help.
