Nana Oye's position on Gay Rights is more enlightened than those of Mills and Hannah Tetteh.
Mahama might want to appoint Nana Oye as the substantive Foreign Affairs Minister.
It is hard to see how anti-Gay Rights Hannah Tetteh can healthily represent Ghana outside her territorial borders.
She will stay in Accra a lot, in order to avoid having to deal with the pesky Western media who might see her as Idi Amin's wife.
It is hard to know what the Mahama government wants.
In Hannah, the Government is trying to gain votes from the incorrigible conservative elements.
In Nana Oye, Mahama seems to be wanting to create the impression that his Government is in step with the liberal and progressive forces unleashed in the Rawlings' era of old.
But let us not too much of this last point. Mills showed the backward and conservative side of the Rawlings' NDC party and era.
I think the confusion here is a pointer to the general one in the country.
They are all part of the tiny elite and political class which has taken over the country. Many times, they think like fossils and products of incestuous relationships.
Dr. Amo-Antwi is thinking like the new blood Ghana needs. He will take a beating for supporting Nana Oye, but that might embolden more of her supporters to come out.

I don't think we've got our axes out on the messenger per se but it is her message!
Personally, I do not think Ghanaians are ready for this to be thrust on them. I also think Nana Oye Lithur does not realise the enormity of the task she has put on her shoulders and the issues surrounding her message.
For most of us, in this modern leberal era, it's not about the imposition of a foreign way of life on an already fragile society as ours; but it appears to me, Activist Lithur does not have the faintest idea what it entails - Do we have the resources and the capacity to deal with the issues that crop up like homophobia ( including religious intolerance), medical issues, hate crime to mention a few?
I mean, the next thing you know, they will be demanding that the subject be added to the School Curriculum!! Yess, Yess.
Nana Oye does not have a clue about what they are talking about or issues that emanate from it.
Ghana is not ready for that, presently, OK !!

When the shit hits the fan, you get this kind of shit spread around by dim-witted and ignorant religious freaks consumed by their own variant of superstition and delusion into believing that they can determine what is good morality for us all.
Indeed, these people must be shocked into realising that they are the people who are not "morally fit" to adjudicate on matters of morality and protection of civil rights in consonance with universal, civilised standards.
I had warned in my article, Staying in the Frying Pan... that President Mahama must desist from following the lame precedence set by Mills who turned the Castle into a Christian praying camp (as if we don't have enough of those camps in the country already). This is what we get from not heeding that wise advice - bollocks upon bollocks!
I think they should also send a letter to The Vatican to do something about their fathers who take a delight in sodomising young boys under duress beyond transferring them to new posts when exposed!

Guatemala ex-ruler Rios Montt to face genocide trial
Gen Efrain Rios Montt has been under house arrest since his immunity from prosecution was lifted A judge in Guatemala has ordered that former military leader Efrain Rios Montt stand trial for genocide. Gen Rios Montt will face charges of crimes against humanity in connection with the killing of 1,771 indigenous Mayans during his rule in 1982-1983. Prosecutors said he wanted to wipe out the indigenous group, which he suspected of supporting rebel fighters. Gen Rios Montt, 86, is the first ex-president to be charged with genocide by a Latin American court. The ruling clears the way for a three-judge to try the former president and another former military man, Jose Mauricio Rodriguez. Gen Rios Montt had enjoyed immunity from prosecution for 12 years while he was serving as a congressman. The immunity was lifted on 14 January 2012, when his term ran out. He has been under house arrest since. Judge Miguel Angel Galvez said there was enough evidence linking the general to the killing of members of the Ixil Maya group to warrant the trial. Gen Rios Montt will also face charges over the forced displacement of 29,000 indigenous Guatemalans as part of what human rights groups have called his "scorched earth" policy. BBC regional correspondent Will Grant says the ruling is a significant victory for human rights advocates who have been pressing for his trial since the end of the civil conflict in 1996. An estimated 200,000 people were killed or went missing during the 36-year conflict. Gen Rios Montt's 17 months in power are believed to have been one of the most violent periods of the war.

There is no legislation in Ghana explicitly prohibiting homosexuality. However section 104 of the Ghanaian Criminal Code, last amended in 2003, states the following:
(1) Whoever has unnatural carnal knowledge -
(a) of any person of the age of sixteen years or over without his consent shall be guilty of a first degree felony and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than five years and not more than twenty-five years; or
(b) of any person of sixteen years or over with his consent is guilty of a misdemeanour; or
(c) of any animal is guilty of a misdemeanour.
(2) Unnatural carnal knowledge is sexual intercourse with a person in an unnatural manner or with an animal (12 Jan. 1961).
although the Criminal Code does not expressly prohibit sexual relations between same-sex individuals, "it states that such action is 'unnatural' and when caught, you will be sentenced to imprisonment.
Some sources report that homosexuality is "criminalized" in Ghana i.e. the federal foreign office (Germany) states that; "the promotion of homosexual acts may be punishable with imprisonment up to three years."

Our religious beliefs are enshrined in our culture. If one really has a problem with his/her own culture, then he must stop practising it! That person must stop in performing Akan naming ceremonies, stop conducting funerals in the Akan fashion, stop pouring libation, stop engaging in Akan festivals such as Akwasidae, stop the practise of customary marriages, even stop bearing an Akan soul/day names, since they have a spiritual connection to the cosmology of the Akan people. They must also avoid praising Nyame/Nyankopon since this is how the Akans referred to their creator. They must stop practising all aspects of their culture. One cannot say I embrace my culture, but I reject the spiritual aspect of it. This is not possible, one does not exist without the other.

THE REMAIN SEVEN IS TO CONTROL WE THE PEOPLE OF THIS EARTH SO THAT OUR LIVES MAY BE MODERATED. ANY ONE WHO COMMITS ANY SIN, COMMIT THE SIN AGAINST HIMSELF. ST. PAUL SAID THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH. IF YOU COMMIT ADULTERY YOU SIN AGAINST YOUR OWN BODY, THIS COMES WITH SO MANY REPERCUSSIONS SUCH HIV &-AIDS, GONORRHEA ETC. THE PASTORS SHOULD STOP THE USELESS PROPAGANDA AGAINST THE LADY AND RATHER CHANNEL THEIR EFFORTS AT PRAYING AND FASTING FOR THE NATION SO THAT GOD IN HIS MERCY MAY TOUCH THE HEART THOSE PRACTICING GAY, LESBIANISM, PROSTITUTION ETC TO REPENT FROM THEIR WAYS.
THEY SHOULD ALSO ORGANIZED CRUSADE SHOWING THEM LOVE AND BRING THEME TOGETHER TO HEAR THE WORD OF GOD. IN THIS THIS WAY THEY MAY HEAL THEIR INFIRMITIES AND EDUCATE THEM BETTER.

In human society there are norms and laws made specifically not the please some people, but to have sanity in society. In a lion pride a lion can decide to behave the way he or she likes, but under that circumstance we are well aware that even the African Safari or Jungle has its prohibitions and unwritten laws.
In the process of human intercourse the first act which was forbidden is inbreeding. It is forbidden for parents to marry their children and children to marry their brothers and sisters. My father married the niece and out of five children who they have only two of us survived.
Human society is totally different from herds or colony of animals and birds and that has keep mankind from extinction. Thanks to the laws, norms and taboos of society we are still living as the most able and populated animal in the world.
People have rights, but the right of people with infectious disease is in the isolation ward in the hospital or clinic, and the right of an insane person is in the hospital. In the case of the latter, he or she may not have any infectious disease, but society has the responsibility to keep him away his harming him or herself and members of society and verse versa.
At times I ask myself in my "insanity" why is an Asian or European suffering sexually transmitted disease is granted visa by our embassies to visit Africa. Why again in my "insanity" and African suffering from malaria can not venture to anywhere in the world.
It means that human rights is not absolute, and therefore homosexuality is not a right moreover to be absolute.
We wrote that when it comes to lawyers they have defended inquisition, colonialism, apartheid, fascism and defend neocolonialism, what about the Opium Wars, both of old and current.

It's unfortunate that people still cannot distinguish between activism and participation. Nana Oye doesn't recruit homosexuals, she only defend them when people try to take the law into their own hands. I will say it over and over again, Christ came for sinners to repent. I don't think any of these clergy standing against Nana Oye want to win a single soul in Ghana. Nana Oye will save them from the hands of the evil ones and repent rather than killing them in their sin if you so believe that homosexuality is sinful. We don't need any law for or against homosexuality. We have laws against stealing but have people stop stealing? It's the spirit behind anything that is important. If we are breeding homosexuals, them there are issues with socialization which we have to revisit. Individual homes and families have to sit up.

May be they should start by exposing and expelling all gay clergy and / or those who defend the rights of gays within the church. The Anglican church has got itself in a pickle and cannot even take a unified stance on this issue.
What has a passion for human rights to do with one issue such as gay rights? We all have our views about homosexuality but this should not cloud our vision of equal rights and service.
