It's only natural though not recommended for us to learn from our mistakes. nPP wants to falsely claim credit that its petition will force EC to reform. As for the case, I sympathize will them because of the emptiness of the petition.

I can feel for Nana, although, sometimes I write nonsense to try to denigrate his efforts. Nana is fighting for principle; he knows this cannot be reversed without serious disruption. But somebody has to do it else we lose our freedom.

In the last days of the 2012 presidential election campaign, Nana Akufo Addo falsely and publicly claimed that Konadu has given her support to him only to be forced to withdraw that public statement within a day after Konadu denied ever giving his support to him. Now it's Nduom and again, Nduom is denying giving his support to Akufo Addo's petition. From what is boiling within the NPP leading members and the factions within, I would not be surprised if sooner or later, NPP disassociate itself from Akufo Addo. These are desperate signs of the last days of the inevitable. The beginning of the end of Akufo Addo's presidential ambition.

A day is indeed a long time in politics! Isn't it odd and interesting that yesterday we were fed a diet that both Dr Ndoum and Mrs Konadu Agyeman Rawlings were supporting the "LET MY VOTE COUNT" campaign? We were erroneously led to believe that these two were actually attending rallies to give speeches on this issue and the former was purported to be supporting the NPP petition. Today Ndoum denies EMPHATICALLY any support of the petitition and Nana Konadu is 'snaking her way back' to "rejoin the NDC". So who or what are we supposed to believe? Or do we take it that all these rumours and propaganda were the sinister work of the NPP to create an impression of wider support for their cause and /or add further to the mess and chaos they are causing to themselves and their complete failure to win at the court of public opinion?

It seems to me the opposition is being irresponsible and frankly, well meaning and fair minded Ghanaians by now will be wondering whether the NPP is seriously working in the interests of our democracy or attempting to subvert it 'by all means'. Isn't it also interesting that whilst we are trying to digest all that they are doing to Ghana's image as a model democracy in Africa, they choose who to condemn even within their own ranks? Dr Wireko-Brobbey is no fan of mine, especially after the mess he caused as VRA boss which in my opinion he should not have been in the first place. Because of him, VRA lost certain very experienced and key senior staff through litigation. Anyhow, how he is a stalwart of the party and somehow got away with his incompetences and brash approach to running a major Ghanaian institution at the time although he was booted out eventually. That said, he of all people found it necessary to caution the NPP of which he IS a core founding member, about the way they were going about things. For once, I agreed with him. He was roundly condemned by the NPP leadership and has been called names (deservedly or not) by his own side. Almost The same treatment was meted out to Prez Kufour for daring to attend the inauguration.

Switch over to the Ghana Bar Associaton's advice and admonition and the NPP's response is different. First they would consider it and then "will all due respect" they will participate in "some aspects" of the work of the House! What is the difference between the GBA's statement and that of Wireko-Brobbey? The Peace Council which they condemned? And other fair, balanced and neutrals who have said the same thing? The argument that NDC also boycotted parliament for various other grievances in the past and so this is OK, is part of the problem with Ghana politics.

I continue to argue that we should avoid precedents which will come to haunt and harm us in the future. This is one such case. What is more serious about this one is that it involved the president's inauguration and now VETTING of people who are supposed to lead whole ministries and other functions of government. I hope Ghanaians are taking note of all these happenings which do not enhance, but rather hinder our hard won democracy after the two decades of Rawling's near monopoly of power. Many were those (even in the NDC) who were happy to see the end of the Rawlings reign and certainly the international community were reluctant to do business with Ghana because of the alleged widespread human rights issues and corruption that had pervaded what was supposed to be a government of accountability. Needless to say, the goodwill towards the Kufour government did not last because of similar perception of corruption and bad governance.

This new leadership of NPP has opened an entirely new chapter which only reminds us of the machinations and chaotic actions of the UGCC in the 1950s and 1960s again aimed at making the country "ungovernable". The funny side of the UGCC actions from early 1950s was that the CPP won 35 out of the 38 seats of the legislative assembly even though Nkrumah was at the time in prison and the British had no choice but to accept him as Prime Minister! Well the good news is, in the 21st Century, Ghanaians have 'wisec up' and that "Obetsebi-Lamptey approach" to chaos and making the country ungovernable of that era will simply NOT WORK THIS TIME. The NPP leadership must take note.

It has taken the ppp all that long to come clear because though Ndoum's sympathy had always been with the npp,after thoroughly going through the arithmetic and the facts at their disposal,they realize that there was no way they could support the npp hence their belated action.The desperation of the npp and their attempts to rope in sympathy no matter how remote is a sign of their isolation.Common sense tells us that the npp has no case and it it obvious that when the case gets down to the merits at the sc it would not stand the test of legal scrutiny.The npp is wasting Ghana's time,investors are wondering what is happening in our country and the stupidity of it all is that the npp are claiming that by the end of it all it will help deepen Ghana's democratic credential.Unless the wise ones step quickly i am afraid the mayhem that we all fear will come to pass for it seems to me that Akufo and co are on a suicide mission.Where is the council of state.
