Please let us give Mahama a break. The guy is the deputy IGP and it makes sense to give him the chance. This is not Tribalism but common sense. When NPP refused to recognise Aliu Mahama, that we tribalism. I would expect that the next Deputy IGP should also take over when Alhassan leaves.
Note that Alhassan will be the third northern person out of over 20 IGPs. Let us be realistic and stop fanning ethnic sentiments.

The government is not only for Mahama, we have NDC in power and if the most diversed party is in power and is appointing people mostly from the North, then the NDC is dead before the next election - by killing interest of its own southern members.
Who will have thought that this is what Mahama will do? I think, NDC need to do an early cabinet reshuffle and give Ghana a good regional balance appointments of Ministers and Government senior official. Regional balance is the key in Ghana politics. This is what happens when you leave government appointments to one person like Mahama. Regional balance is a common sense of inclusiveness practise some past leaders and it works well.
