He and his Labour Party group who have now rebranded themselves as Social Democrats infected London with gayism to a point that Section 22 was decriminalised to allow teachers to teach gayism in British schools under Labour government after Mrs Tatcher.
This has developed to a very serious social enginering agenda under Tory and Liberal Democrats government of convienance whereby traditional marriage between a man and woman is been redefined. Under a bill coming up for a vote on 5 February 2013, the word marriage is no more between a man and woman again but rather it is going to cover a man and man, woman and woman. The caption "President Mahama Speaks: Homosexuality is criminal" comes off as cowardly, confusing, and blatantly deceptive.
First of all President John Dramatic Mahama himself has not spoken on the issue of homosexuality in Ghana, second of all, Mahama Ayariga is no John Mahama to inform us, in my view rather casually, about the criminality of homosexuality.
Granted Section 104 of the Criminal Code of Ghana states that whoever has unnatural carnal knowledge of
a) any person of the age of 16 or over without his consent shall be guilty of a first degree felony and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment
b) any person of 16 or over with his consent is guilty if a misdemeanour
c) of any animal is guilty of a misdemeanour.
In section 99 under the code, it becomes necessary to prove carnal knowledge or unnatural carnal knowledge , and this is ascertained upon " proof of the least degree of penetration."
The penetration thus becomes the key piece of the legislation that criminalizes homosexual behaviour. Hence if there was no perceived penetration, then there was no homosexual act and no crime. It also follows that women who have sex with women are excluded from the list. Lawyers will have a fieldday with such anal probes!

This outmoded piece of legislation is a hand me down from the British jurisprudence.
There is no mention of sexual orientation and discrimination in the 1992 Constitution, and it behooves the President to show leadership by working with the other two branches of government, the religious bodies, the chiefs, media houses, Council of State, Civic societies to craft a sane, humane and pragmatic solution to this new and highly divisive challenge of sexual orientation.
The worst thing to do is to criminalize it and drive it underground.
