This is really stupid, it is like saying that America should have used a referendum to abolish slavery or even have a referendum during Nkrumah’s time to determine free education for the North. What would the results have been? Do you think the majority white population who were the slave masters or the people in the South of Ghana, who were the majority in population, would have voted for these policies? Homosexuals are a minority in Ghana and therefore will never win such a referendum.
Ghanaians are going overboard with this issue, I don’t think the homosexuals in Ghana are asking for marriage, but simply asking for rights and protection. The homosexuals have always been part of the Ghanaian society; the only difference is that the Ghanaian homosexuals are closet homosexuals; they go as far as getting married and having children while making their spouses unhappy. A good example is the vice president who was having extramarital relations with his “boyfriend”.

There is no law in Ghana which criminalises homosexuality and it is stretching it to interpret that jaded law on unnatural carnal knowledge, which, itself, must be expunged from the statute books, as such.

We CANNOT pass a law in Ghana to criminalise homosexuality just because some religious hypocrites and loads of ignoramuses say so.

Just google for "eunuchs in Africa" and read what is there. Africa has the longest history of supplying eunuchs, castrated men, who were used extensively in Europe to as far as India for various purposes, including gay partners. Eunuchs were also used in The Vatican male only choir until the C19th, and not only the walls of the Vatican and the heavens know what else, as we all now know that Catholic bishops and fathers, after all, do have sex with even underage boys and girls! Yes, even some Popes had children!

Oye is not even an NDC member but has been pulled in to fulfill the promised made to Solomon. Do you think Mahama did not know that his VP was gay before making the selection? I think being gay or adulterer is a moral issue and Mahama being himself an adulterer perhaps does not care about these moral issues hence receiving the $20K from the gay activist, and selecting Oye and the VP. Of course gays and lesbians are human beings and therefore protected under universal human rights.Our religion as our tradition is strongly against the practice of same sex intercourse and thats clear, what we fail to realise is that, not everyone of us are religious. People should also understand the biological aspect of it ie the HORMONE factor, where one is born as a man but with feminin hormones...therefore, criminisation would be unfair.Referendum will help us find away to handle the issue within the eye of the law.

1.CPP upholds the human and civil rights of all.
2.CPP promotes the AFRICAN PERSONALITY

Therefore, a CPP government will not be dragged into any foolish genital politics be it from pressure by foreign powers or as exploited by local conservatives and right-wingers. We will not engage in witch hunts, character assassination, and personal controversies.

A CPP government will concern itself with promoting the AFRICAN PERSONALITY in children from a very early age so they can have pride in our own culture, history, knowledge base and positive societal values.
