OF all the jobs that he can put this individual to that wouldn't task him too much of his physical impairment why will Mahama do such a stupid thing, appointing a blind man as his lieutenant to the chiefs. Ghana is a land of many chiefs, I think we have so many chiefs per capita than any other country on earth, why will John mahama do such an appointment that will involve countless number of travels? He just does not want to see or hear from the chiefs, that's it.

Nobody is saying the blind man is not a human, but his job vis-a-vis his impairment will make him ineffective.

Send the guy to the castle as one of those Minister without portfolio and replace him with somebody who can see, smell, taste and visually evaluate things with the chiefs.

Traditionally you wouldn't appoint a blind man to be a linguist so why this man now? He won't get the cooperation of the chiefs and that will render him useless.

Stupid Mahama, sit up and use your head. Haba!

I have been agreeing with you on most of your postings. I however don't agree with your comparing the Governmor New York to the Minister elect in Ghana for the Chieftaincy Affairs. Whatever technological equiment the blind governor in New York could use to perform his duties creditably, are lacking even in today's Ghana. I would agree with many who are posting that there are other offices this man could occupy but not to deal with Chieftaincy Affairs which is a complicated issue in Ghana. Without any prejudice to any disabled person, I like to state categorically that they have impediments that would make their performing jobs in public office very limited, disappointing and unsatisfactory.

Hi folks I am sure this will help those of you commenting without information on Dr Dannaa. 1. Dr Dannaa had worked as the chief director of the ministry of chieftency all this while and he is very familiar with the chiefs so I am surprise at some complaining now. 2. Due to his advance training, he has all the needed aids to assist him to work. 3. Highly mobile and very familiar with the terrain ie. Ministry of chieftency. 4. Moving him out of his comfort zone will require relearning and readjustment to the new environment other than the one he is familiar with. 5. Dr Dannaa has been involved in extensive work already and will require very little assistance to move on..6. His work as a minister will be less demanding than his current position. We are currently criticizing everything why wouldn't we rather be positive and see what they have at their sleeves?

Think about it, if an innocent child, perceived by untrained idiots as not fit to live because he/she has a perceived abnormality and condemn him/her to death by drinking a poisonous potion; is it not barbaric? What right has anybody to condemn nature?
Your argument that the substantive minister for chieftaincy will have to do many travels is neither here nor there when what he has to do is to walk to a chauffer driven car, while in the historic past, people had to walk long distances only to worship their fellow human beings as gods. Don’t you know that people who can’t see have other sensory organs sharpened and that all over the world, particularly in the United States, physically impaired people are performing just as, what fools will describe, normal persons?
Dr. Henry Seidu Danaa has achieved an enviable academic status, in spite of his “deformity”?
President Mahama must rather be praised for his wonderful effort of unraveling “Equal opportunity” in Ghana. Only a mentally impaired person cannot perform because of his/her cognitive incapacity.
All discerning people should be exited and all fools can eat their hearts!!

All that I implied is given the job description for Minister for Chieftaincy Affairs a visually impaired person is not the right person for the job. Attending durbars, festivals and constantly visiting many chiefs and traditional areas will form a very big part of his job. Given all that I am still of the strong belief that this bright scholar and yet blind man will the job very challenging and embarrassing under certain circumstances. Instead of your big head making useful contribution you resort to putting words in my mouth and make exaggerations. Think, and be objective and not emotive fool.

sometimes you have got to step back and operationalize your thoughts and like magic you will discover wisdom and common sense. I applaud the man for what he has achieved academically and professionally - but if you have half the brains of a lizard you will realize his talent can be put to other uses that do not require being out and shaking hands in say a durbar of chiefs with thousands mingling around him. Some office job will do, not a field job. Understood? Good.

Tradition is part of us and we must respect our chiefs in their opinions when it comes to things in the confines of chieftaincy. He could be re-assigned to another more workable portfolio, for the man to make his contribution to national cause. Probably an advisory role other than a substantive minister will be more useful.

A chief friend once told be that if chieftaincy has been by appointment only few of the current chiefs will have been appointed because majority are IDIOTS and NAIVE. Lets put every thing in perspective. Dr Henry Seidu Dannaa is trained lawyer and studied at London School of Economics, one one of the best universities in the WORLD. Though he cannot see, all his other senses are in working order. Any FOOL can be a Chaiftaincy Minister. If there are ministers like Collins Dauda, etc why not Dr Henry Seidu Dannaa? Many of the worst dictators had been highly educated. More than 50 of the most richest and successful entrepreneurs in the world do not hold an university degree or are even school drop outs. Therefore, to enstool even a person which has only a large scar on his face, any other deformity or physical handicaps is a taboo and against our tradition. Since the custodian of the stool is not only representing the entire town or state, but is also the spiritual leader and represents our ancestors and God in a small way.
This whole ministry for chieftaincy, anyway does not have any authority over any area which falls under the judicial authority of Asante. Just like no regional or national house of chiefs can exercise any authority. Therefore, Nana Kwaku Dwomo Ankoana II, (Omanhene of Seikwa in Bono-Ahafo region) should care less about it, since its area is part of Asanteman.

It means you are no more qualified to join the general job market.

As for politicians in Germany its a different issue. In Germany power and financial resources is not controlled by governments, but by the multinational companies. Thats why the so called "elite" does not enter politics, but the free industrial market. Even, those who enter politics at the same time occupy various leading position within multinatonal companies.

Do you think a disabled person can become the pope? no way, because the pope is suppossed to be without blemish.

P.s. Where do we have a prosperous economy in Germany? On what planet are you living on? Since 2000 the economy of Germany has been gradually be decreasing. Gone are the properous days between the 60`s and 90`s. An rapidly high increasing unemployment rate, introduction of medical fees, introduction of university fees in some states, increasing number of private health insurances, since the government can no more guarantee our pensions, no money being invested in the educational sector, many poorly paid academics with some not even getting a job at all.

For instance, there had been a mentally retarded President known as "Lübke".Lübke was a very bad public speaker and was frequently subject to ridicule due to his health problems, which also affected his memory.He frequently forgot where he was.in 1962 he addressed a crowd in Liberia: "Ladies and Gentlemen, dear Negroes..." or when he wanted to tell Queen Elizabeth we will start soon, he said "Equal goes it loose".

By the way, who says that you have to be part of our traditional instiutions to contribute something to society? When my late uncle, late Chief of Adako-Jachie died, the stool was not given to his cousin. Yet his cousin has been able to initiate some projects in that area as for instance, building a hospital, pharmacy stores and so on. Do you think a disabled person can even become the President of the republic? When its even a big issue for Ghanaians when a sitting President or presidential candidate got health problems?

What is the sense for a ministry of chieftaincy at all? He does not have any power. This ministry is just a waste of time,just like the national and regional house of chiefs. What are they doing? Asanteman Council certainly does not care about them. Most problems have been created by politicians, whether it be the illegal elevation of the Sunyanihene to the status of an Omanhene, creation of Bono-Ahafo region out of Western Asante region, Tano-Subin crisis etc. They say traditional rulers have no business dabbling into politics. Likewise politicians have no business dabbling into chieftaincy affairs.

Even the EU said, while all other countries have been making huge investment in the educational sector, Germany reduced its expenditures in this area. In fact, due to inequality in the country, Germany is violating basic human rights. Likewise the payment is worse off compared to many other european countries.
