Culture and tradition changes and infact, where cultural practices are perceived to be allienating and punitive to a section of the community, it usually means it is time to move on. The culture where people are killed when the Ashanti chief died is outmoded because it was punitive to a section of the community. It used to be the culture of the United states of American to lynch black men who dared married white women. That culture no longer exist. We must move on as a people and do away with cultures that tend to earmark the section of our community for special punishment. The president is right to adapt to global demands. Ghana is not an Island. Why should the nation choose to punish some of its citizens because of their sexual preferences? what harm are they causing to Ghanaians? Ghanaians must accept that we are not all the same. We also pursue different religious beliefs if we chose to believe at all. The theological argument only applies to those whose faith is in christianity or Islam. If one chooses not to be religious, them homosexuality to them is no sin since they do not believe in God. It is a choice they would have made, leave them alone. Do not try to impose your religious beliefs, fictitiously shrouded in culture and tradition, on others.

However, democracy does not include tyranny of the maority over a minority. That is exactly what happened in Nazi Germany for instance: The majority hated the Jews (after sufficient propaganda, that is), therefore they were discriminated against and even killed.
It's the same thing in Ghana, and most of Africa for that matter. A majority is suppressed and even has to endure death threats (see comment section), simply because they are different.
Your religion argument is invalid, since the Ghanaian government is secular. It does not promote any particular religious beliefs. Therefore, laws cannot be made on grounds of the Bible, Koran or any other holy book.
One day, tolerance of others will also reach Africa.
