These are all stupid,they are working and been paid for so why the Gov. should give them that money for rent.They should have let them pay it themselves to see what some of the people goes tru, and rather use that money to put chairs and tables in the classrooms for kids.From the President to the bottom they are all thieves.Stop given them those money and stuff and let them fell like the people so they will go to that parliament and talk good stuff.Those ministers and the rest are cheating too much.

Most developed countries only have sessions where congressmen/parliamentarians go in for a period and then go back home. Obama used to rent a room in DC and that is how many parliamentarians and congressmen manage their accommodations. Why are the politicians special? Sick people are lying on the floors in government hospitals but we are doling out 50K to parliamentarians for rent. Does this make sense? Where are the demonstrations from other government workers?

They deserve nothing! Ask Nduom, he's willing to do it on a salary of 1.00GHS per month. And if the elected members are not satisfied with the stipulating benefits, there are tons of candidates looking inside, and willing to do the same jobs at a fraction of the existing salary; they be shown the doorway!

Management of the Volta Regional Sports Secretariat on Thursday bemoaned the practice of open defecation in and around the Ho Sports Stadium.

A statement signed by Mr Kofi Abdallah, Acting Volta Regional Sports Director and copied to the Ghana News Agency observed that some residents, young and old were defecating around the playing field even during working hours.

The statement described the act as unacceptable and that anyone caught would face the full rigours of the law.

The statement said a task force had been formed to help maintain good sanitation at the Stadium.

Ghana News Agency investigations revealed that, many residents around the Stadium do not have toilet facilities in their homes.

A Ghana @50 public toilet constructed in the adjoining community was yet to be handed over to the Ho Municipal Assembly for use.

Consequently, some people enter the Stadium through its broken fence and defecate in the yard.

Sometimes, people could be seen in groups of three, four and five defecating around the Stadium at the same time.

Some residents told the GNA that the people could not be blamed and that the Stadium authorities should complete the fence wall to protect their territory.

“That wall has been broken for over 30 years and the place is bushy so they cannot blame the people for that”, Kofi Ametornyo, a resident told the GNA.

Mr. Adolf Ladji, Administrator of the Stadium said his outfit had written to authorities and appealed to the Ho Municipal Assembly for assistance to complete the fence wall but to no avail.

Last year, Mr Kofi Humado, Former Minister for Youth and Sports during a day’s visit to the Secretariat promised that the Stadium would be renovated pending the construction of a new stadium complex along the Ho-Aflao Road to be used by the School of Sports Medicine of the University of Health and Allied Sciences.

If the members of the august body don’t intend to enrich themselves at the expense of the poor masses who they represent, why wouldn’t they themselves form a committee to which parliamentarians who have the Nation at heart would declare ownership of houses in or near the Capital city and take a consolation for maintenance, and others who come from far, get a budget sensitive remuneration?
In many Nations, leaders seek to be famous by voluntarily serving the people, unlike African countries where parliamentarians use their capacity as legislators to exploit their poor constituents!

One could understand the British colonialists providing accommodation for their Civil Servants brought over from Britain.But fifty six years after independence,why should this poor country(where 40% of the budget is paid for by foreign tax payers)pay rent for our MPs? Infact,most of these folks already have homes in Accra and in their constituencies.In addition,the government gives each MP $50.000 "loan" towards auto purchase.

African politicians are so pampered for the little time they spend in parliament that,other legislators in rich countries probably would feel jealous when told.

When Pres.Obama was a senator from Illinois,he rented a tiny efficiency in Washington.DC.,and paid for it with his own money.It is said when his wife and children visited,the family stayed at a hotel - at his own expense.And here we have these arrogant and corrupt members(some of whom would not be elected as dog catchers in advanced democracies), doing what they like with the people's purse.

The politicians in Ghana - whether NPP or NDC - are the same.They are all corrupt,inept and protect each other once they get into office. Despite the fact that Kufuor maneuvered with the EO Group to hide $2billion in Kosmos shares,the late Egya Atta invited him to lunch at the Castle to "smooth" things over.Not a word was said about the biggest ripp-off of the government in Ghana's history.

Today,Kufuor,his brother Dr.Kufuor(in eight years as Defense Minister,he received so many kickbacks that now he's the richest Ghanaian around.He's worth $1.5 billion),Mpiani and the rest of the NPP Cosa Nostra,have secured for their families,financial wherewtihal that assures them prosperity for generations to come. They have also corrupted the judges who have made them untouchable.But their day will come.

A military coup will not change anything.Infact,the Praetorian Guard is worse than civilians - according to Samuel Huntington.A strong revolution from below,like the French paradigm - with a selfless,dedicated and a visionary leader like Ataturk(the founder of modern Turkey) - is what we need to upend the status quo.

For the ones who know Villaggio Apartments in Accra at Tetteh Quashie Round-About(or Interchange), a modest, furnished 3-bedroom there cost about GHC9,000/month. So 2 Ghanaian parliamentarians cannot afford to rent and share one 3-bedroom at Villaggio. Nkruasefo3, you are the ones who encourage government officials to be corrupt.

Rawlings built the Sakumono estate to house the parlimentarians but all where sold out to them in 2002 and believe most of them were NDC people, and those who stayed on in 2002 sold them out to individuals and took money to buy other properties. i am as mad as you about the government giving out so much monies to these crooks but until people like you see things with a political lense they will cheat us everyday.The only time these crooks agree on anything is when they are chopping our monies NPP should boycot this money so we will believe them if not then they should just shut up.

Fellow Ghanaians let us pull together as some nations are doing because these damn useless politicians are taking us for granted. No social programs, we have all the minerals we can't have decent drinking water, electricity, our hospitals are grave yards. Fellow Ghanaians we should wake up as some countries have seen the light and taken to the streets to demonstrate against the government. The majority of us are suffering why? After six months if things do not change we will go on the streets. The Chinese and all those polluting our rivers should be arrested prosecuted and jailed. The foreigners deported after their sentence.
