We have finite resources. So if our population keeps increasing, it means there will be more people making use of these resources, so less of it per person.

We have finite resources. So if our population keeps increasing, it means there will be more people making use of these resources, so less of it per person.

The water shortages in Accra are a prime example of this. Accra is served by Weija and Kpong{Tema}. The population of Accra is increasing rapidly, yet the metropolis is served by the same water sources as before.

The call to reduce our birth rate is apposite. We stand a better chance of providing adequately for a smaller than a bigger population.

However there is another factor contributing to the increasing population - the rapid migration of foreigners to our land. We need to control immigration, especially of non-Africans, to our land.

Ghanaians should instead have more children. Children are our pension, they make up the labour force. We do not have good health services and hence the more children one has the better and higher the probability of having surviving kids to support each other, their parents and extended family.
We do not earn enough as Ghanaian to save for a better retirement. The best financial investment for a Ghanaian is the number of kids. All parents need to do is to strive hard to give the kids average to good education and that is significant insurance. My recommendation is for a Ghanaian to have at least four children. For the good of our economy both the nation and family.
