As you mentioned “the medical service is an essential service which is prohibited from going on strike no matter the annoyance; no matter the condition.
When armed force, Police, etc are promised, why they do not delay it.
Govt. planning to pay MP housing allowance of GHC 50,000 per head. See how fast they will get this money and people who are taking care of human life see how they're playing with their entitlement. Let us be honest and support them.
Doctor's please do not abandon the patitents completely as their life is in you hands and not all can afford private hospital/clinic charges.

In a privale hospital a specialist doctor collects GH70 per person for consultation minus drugs. if he has ten patients a day he has GH700 a day let the doctor pay 50% to the hospital he takes home GH350 a day. 20 working day he takes home GH7000 a month.

If i were the government i will just fire your executives. You are doctors so we should give you all the money in ghana, sorry. We spend a lot of money training you and giving you special care at the university and you come out to bluff us. Another thing is this talk of not going on strike when negotiations are ongoing. Is Mr Gamey aware that FWSC have been totally unresponsive to GMAs grievances for one year now. So how else are GMA to react? Continue these so called negotiations for another 5 yrs whn the other party is not willing to negotiate??

Is Mr Gamey even aware of the issues? NLC ruled in 2011 in a compulsory arbitration which both parties were to abide by. GMA did despite the fact that their demands were largely unmet. Then somehow FWSC decide to disobey this ruling. What kind of daylight robbery is this??
Bcos medical profession is an essential service, should doctors be made a fool of all the time???

Politicians in Ghana are elected into office to collude and share the contents of the national purse among themselves and then give away what is left to their cronies such as Austin Gamey in the form of "consultancy fees" and "judgement debts".
Politicians like Austin Gamey are the enemies of the Ghana. We need "June 4th" in Ghana again to clean out the leeches and vampires, and sanitise our national system.

As long as this culture remains this stupid and evil type of strike will continue in our country to the disadvantage of the populace. The Doctors should not work till the demands are met. If Mahama can connive with parliament and dole out huge monies to himself, ministers and MPs, the doctors to deserve what they are asking.

To describe the GMA's action as 'uncivilised' is insulting and puts their backs up into a more defensive and hostil position. This should be commonsense but it appears this kind of sense is not common.

While government ministers are jostling and getting more pay by the thousands of cedis it is only fair the government treats everybody on the same basis as MPs.

What is happening in Ghana today demonstrates the lack of leadership and inter-personal skills of the Minister of Health and the government and the president of this country.

There is a problem with medical care in Ghana; the core infrastructure is rotten; hospitals are crap (and that is why our leaders prefer to go abroad at tax payers' expense when they are ill); all workers' pay are crap.

Instead of dealing with the issues they have been 'elected' to deal with they start off on a confrontational note - instead of encouragement for negotiations to complete and find a resolution with the doctors, they start off with undiplomatic language calling them names 'uncivilised' etc.

How do you expect the people you are trying to resolve a problem with, to react?? of course similarly in a confrontational manner and this way nothing gets solved or the situation become protracted, albeit the masses continue to suffer and die.

This is NOT THE WAY TO MANAGE OUR AFFAIRS.

Where were you when they gave a notice in NOVEMBER 2014 to a JUNE 30 2015 for their CONDITIONS OF SERVICE (COS) to be negotiated, signed and brought into force? Are you aware the GOVERNMENT SIGNED AN MOU WITH GMA upon expiration of the June 30 deadline to be given an extra month for the COS TO BE SIGNED AND BROUGHT INTO FORCE? Pls if you don't know ask! Doctors are not trained free, not father Xmas and not heartless or callous!

He has to upgrade his knowledge with emphasis on 'proactive' labour relations where issues are resolved amicably before strikes occur. There is a lot of literature on HR which Austin Gamey can read. He can even Google. Then he can advise the NDC gov't to be proactive

Gamey was one of those PNDC activists who helped destroy this country, its laws and its civilized people. The government can use the same "no-trike" law to extend the negotiations until several generations of doctors - present and future - retire. The PNDC law is stupid. The doctors, and everyone else who feels abused by the corrupt NDC and future government should use whatever tools they have to fight. How many time times have the useless parliamentarians not walked out because of remunerations.
